A fellow South African that is rare.
To be blunt you are probably bothering your T too often. Do you have a hide for your T so he can escape to a safe place when needed?
Don't worry about the eating, they will not eat on a schedule or when you want them to eat 100% of the time.
A picture of...
Not sure who to ask so here goes.
I have never seen anyone recommending something like Hapalopus formosus, is there a reason for this? (Scarce in the states etc)
Maybe I have gotten lucky but my H. formosus has been a solid T. Very easy to care for husbandry wise, great feeding response and...
Do you mean you had to drive with the T in the car on your way home or do you drive with the T in the car daily? Also the T is in a stress position because there is nowhere for it to hide. The sub looks too wet but that could be due to the photo I guess. I keep my slings a lot drier than what...
I am going to give this a shot, especially with my juvies due to the fact that the worms I can get a hold of are the perfect size for a big juvie meal.
We have a local shop breeding earthies so I don't need to worry about pesticides etc. Thanks for the info CB
I hear you, he was obviously joking....Then again this question is so basic that if the OP spent half the time he/she spent typing the response about how offended he/she was on searching the boards this thread would never have gone up o_O
Good luck with the bolty T though
I am just curious, even if the T took 20 hours to molt what was your next step going to be after flipping the T over? I understand that it was a mistake etc. I am not trying to hammer on you I am just genuinely curious what your action would have been after flipping it over... Were you scared it...
In all my years I have never heard or seen this....I have missed out on so many opportunities due to the fact that we have some big fat earthies that we use for fishing here.
Risks to using them?
I don't like assuming things and I can't guarantee that it will happen but from my experience he will get too used to you before long and the animal abuse will transform into an abusive household as well.
Apologies on your T. Can only wish the next time it's the idiot keeper that falls on his...
Fully agree with you, apologies if I sound confrontational I am just trying to wrap my mind around all the different feedback. Since reading this I went on to read more about this T and almost all other posts on here regarding size and growth rate and the difference between what people report on...
I don't understand why that seems to surprise you, that they all went bad...
It's really simple in my OPINION, will pokies tolerate each other when smaller sure, will they go into juvie and still tolerate each other maybe, will a enclosure with adults ever be communal no.
I might not have the...
I fully understand and agree with you. The point I am referring to is some people saying they grow like glaciers and this person saying it's that size in a year from a sling.
Correct me if I am wrong but the gap in growth rate reported is then either wrong or someone is misinformed.
I do not understand your statement. If he is serious about his T getting that big within a year why would I not be able to duplicate the growth rate if fed whenever T will eat and keeping temps up?
P. regalis is so expensive here and then I come onto the boards and read this. Courier me a few, they have a better chance at survival being in transit for a month than they do in that communal.
Phormictopus cancerides.
Sold at 5.6"
I would describe the color as velvety brown, hints of reddish browns and copper tones through the body and carapace.
I would have described my T's behavior as cheeky and not really the type of temperament you would expect from an new world, threat...
