I keep my full grown Hentzi in a 10 gallon tank about half full of substrate ( about 4 inches) I have a large hide which he no longer uses. I keep the substrate pretty dry, occasionally mist it. and have a water dish on the low end of the tank. I keep around the water dish wet with some moss i...
That's too risky in my opinion. Roaches in apartments are something people will treat. Id be worried about potential pesticides or poisons on the roaches hurting your T. I don't even use crickets and grasshoppers from my yard because my next door neighbors treat their yard/garden with pesticides...
Back when I got my first 2 T's I believed they couldn't climb plexiglass walls (HA! Shows how much I knew back then). They would try and get most of their legs onto the glass then fall off. This was a common occurrence for around 2 weeks then one night they just started crawling up the walls...
I have standard alarms set on my phone to feed and water them once a week an. I don't bother with tracking anything else with them. I don't feel I necessarily need to keep a data log on my spiders. Keep feedings and such universal and life is good.
This is a story from a few years ago but I'm curious what you guys think I could have done. I was about 13 years old at this time and hadn't thought to consult the internet back then.
I had gotten a Chilean Rose Hair from a family friend. It was an older tarantula that I believe had reached...
I have an A. Hentzi. It was wild caught and found in a borrow under a rock in an area being developed. The land owner had arachnophobia and I wasn't allowed to release it on their 120 acre property.
My issue, is that I've rehoused this tarantula multiple times as it has grown. Every time that I...
Spiders are weird my dude. My A. Hentzi will randomly climb walls, the roof of its enclosure and hang upside down for a couple days. Other times it'll sit in a corner and wont move for a couple of days.
I don't think you have anything to worry about, your spider is just being a spider.
When I feed my B. Hamori and my A. Chalcodes slings. I give them cut up meal worms. My B. Hamori wont eat prekilled prey if I just drop it in its cage. I usually, take a super think kebab stick and put the piece of mealworm on the end and move it around. My B. Hamori usually goes for it then...
I have a B Hamorii and Aphonopelma chalcodes sling. Both are super small. I've tried feeding them the smallest crickets I can get (Which are about half their size with the hopping legs missing). They haven't shown much interest. I happen to be getting some Flightless Fruit Flies for a bunch of...
I joined the watering hole from my profile and saved the changes. Its been a few minutes and a few refreshes later and I'm still unable to view posts within the forum. Anyone know why?
@VanessaS its sloped like a hill there is like 3 or 4 or so inches of substrate at the top of the hill. It gives him a place to dig while allowing the cage to look more appealing visually. The cage is only around 6 inches tall so there isn't much of a fall risk. Thanks for the concern and...
looks like a Chilean Rose Hair. Its common for them to go on hunger strikes. I've seen you tubers who claim to have had theirs go on strikes for 6 months. It'll eat when it wants to.
