Haha thanks, almost forgot about those 😉. I just didn’t know, since I’ve never kept a T, if there was a way to check their fangs or if you can see them regularly while they’re out!
Thank you for the quick reply! Just so I’m 100%, once they enter a premolt period which could take several months or longer, they’ll more than likely stay in their burrow and not eat?
So if pre molt is a stage between normal life and molting, like snakes in blue, typically how long does a T stay in the pre molt phase? Not looking for specifics, but like a few weeks to a few months? Snakes that are in blue generally shed within a few days to a week or two after they go in...
Also! How can you tell when a T’s fangs are black? Other than seeing them attached to the wall of the enclosure, I haven’t been able to tell where you can actually see their fangs. I don’t want to make the mistake of feeding after a molt too early and making a grave mistake. Thank you!
I appreciate your replies and your plethora of knowledge! One thing I’m still confused about is the term “premolt.” Does Premolt just mean the standard way a T lives outside of molt? Or is it an actual stage? With snakes you have their normal being, then right before they shed they go into blue...
I appreciate the info! We have several snakes and lizards, reptiles shows are a general thing we go to at least once a month. Feeders are not our concern luckily because were used to that. We have a guy we’ve become good friends with from an expo who has an amazing T supplier, unfortunately for...
I know there’s probably a thousand of these threads out there, but I love getting more personal interaction on all things T (especially during the covid crisis and since I do not have a T yet!). I’ve settled down my searches for my first T to between a G. Pulchripes and a T. Albopilosus. My...
Not a T story, but a similar one. I keep a variety of herps and whatnot, I was at my parents house for a weekend when I got the sudden feeling that I needed to check the Tegu’s cage because something didn’t feel right. Next morning me and the girlfriend are headed back to our house and low and...
So T. Albopilosus and B. Albopilosum are the same animal now? Much like how the typical “Brazilian Black” is now considered the “Uruguayan Black?” (Sorry can’t remember their scientific names)
I don’t know much about T. Albopilosus, my top three right now are G. Pulchripes, A, Chalcodes and B. Albopilosum! Also my arachnophobia stems more so from the fact that I’m afraid of where they /could/ be. I could put on a shoe or wake up in bed and have a brown recluse right there and I think...
I’d have to look into them more, I don’t know much about them!
That’s what I’m pretty much down to. I know the relative top 5-ish best beginner T’s and that they’re all relatively similar in general species temperament, now I’m sorting through which I believe to be the prettiest/most colorful...
Hey everyone, I recently made a post about what could be the best beginner T for an arachnophobe (check it out on my page for some backstory), however I think I have narrowed down which two T’s I like the most, those would be the A. Chalcodes and the G. Pulchripes. Could anyone give me more tips...
Not sure how it’s too far off, but I digress. I should’ve put in there I’m afraid of them in a sense of if I get into bed and saw one crawling in my bed I’d freak. However having one in a terrarium I wouldn’t mind. Having a T in a terrarium I especially wouldn’t mind! Also I said the thing about...
I should rephrase what I said, I am terrified to find unaccounted for spiders! I do not mind at all watching them crawl around or whatever and they don’t make me lose all rational thought. My fear stems from not knowing where they could be. If someone says “hey go grab something in the far back...
Hey y’all, title is kind of my question haha. I know there are loads of threads for “best beginner T,” however I am curious for a best personal choice for me. Background, I keep snakes, lizards, and have a S. Subspinipes centipede named Twizzler, however, I am terrified of arachnids; more so...
Thanks for the help! And I do have a thread on my enclosure posted! A few people looked it over and said it looked fine but may have been too moist so I toned down the spraying a lot. It’s an acrylic tank that has two mesh vent holes on the side (both about 2 inches in diameter) and I have about...
Hello all, ive just recently added a S. Subspinipes to my collection. However the little (big) dude doesn’t seem to want to eat. Twizzler terrarium is set up great with high humidity and the second day she ate a Dubia Roach. However I put a mouse in there for her and she didn’t touch it. It’s...
There is just moss/grass in the terrarium which wouldn’t be strong enough to hold him up. The crevices in the lid are right in the middle so I don’t think he could climb the corner all the way to the middle. It currently looks like there’s no way he could reach them but I’ve heard Subspinipes...
hey guys, new to the centipede world, recently purchased a S. Subspinipes (could also be a dehaani) and was wondering if the terrarium was up to par for it (my biggest worry is an escape). It’s a 12 in long by about 8in wide and 8-10in tall. It’s acrylic with two mesh ventilation ports and has a...
First ever post to this forum so excuse me if this is in the wrong place or has been posted before, but let’s get to the question.
I have recently purchased a centipede from a reptile show in Kentucky (I named it Twizzler) and it was labeled as “Vietnamese Centipede.” I thought it was a...
