Holy, I’m shocked that I missed the flap completely. It was rolled up and I didn’t even realize it. I’ll definitely give it some time before trying to feed again, thank you for your advice!
I’ll try to get a good pic, but he’s very prone to stress curls whenever I move his enclosure. Perhaps I miss sexed the molt? I’ll try to resoak it and post a pic. He doesn’t have boxing glove palps though.
Here he, maybe she is?? I just resoaked the molt and I think I found a flap??
He’s around 4”-5”. I’ll definitely keep dribbling water. It was a traumatic molt if that has anything to do with it, he molted in an awful place and slipped into his water dish as soon as he was out of the molt. I had to tear his home apart to save him as he couldn’t get out. 🤦♀️
Any advice would be super appreciated. My pink toe molted almost 2 weeks ago and won’t eat anything. He’s a male, but not yet mature and he’s super thin. I’m going to give him to a family member as a birthday present but I don’t want to give a sickly spood that won’t eat. I’ve tried crickets and...
Hello! My N.Chromatus molted last night, and I noticed there a large piece stuck to her abdomen including the old carapace. I've never encountered anything more than a tiny piece on the abdomen before, so I'm not sure what to do. Should I try to assist with a damp paintbrush? Or do you think I...
Hello! I just received my P. Imperator earlier today, and i want to make sure everything is okay before it gets settled in. From what I've read I need a heat mat (my room barely hits 70°).
But any specific temperature the warmer side should be at? The little guy is 1", so any specific care...
Can springtails hurt a sling? I believe what I have is springtails, because they gather in the waterdish. I didn't add them, but I saw my sling looking agitated and something jumping around it. I use the compressed coconut fibres blocks. I'll add a pic when I get the chance.
If that's the case, that's such a huge relief!
He has moulted pretty recently! I knew about their hair kicking, but didn't realize excess hairs would look like that. He's such a Sweety for me, he hasn't kicked hairs at me a single time since rehousing him weeks ago. If those are excess hairs...
I'm kinda freaking out, I just noticed something on my T. Stirmi's abdomen and I don't know what it is, I'm praying it's not mold or a fungus of some sort. His enclosure (plastic tub) is quite kept humid. There's no mold that I can see in the rest of the enclosure, but he's in a stress curl...
That's really good to know! I noticed him being in a stress curl, but after a few days he's been moving around and stretching a lot more. Thank you for your input, I'm glad to have this information for next time!
After I calmed down, and waited a couple days he's been doing a ton of grooming. I...
Hello! I (My Dad) have a 1/6" Heteropoda Javana that I received as a freebie from my last tarantula order. We got it on May 22nd/19 and we can't get it to eat anything. We've tried pre-killed pinhead crickets to tiny beetles to small pieces of larger prey. I know 100% that the enclosure is too...
It's abdomen is definitely smaller than before moulting, but I'm pretty sure that's normal. I do have a pic of him a couple of hours ago if that helps to clarify anything.
My 2.5"-3" Lasiodora Difficilis just moulted this morning and I just barely found him in what looked like a death curl (this is the first tarantula to ever moult in my care). I freaked out a bit and dribbled more water onto the substrate. I did startle him a bit and he moved out of it, so I...
I really glad I saw your comment! I was thinking of putting them in a much larger enclosure, but it definitely makes sense to house them in something smaller at first. How many Balfouri's did you keep in that enclosure?
I'm definitely going to start the process of getting a communal, whether or not I get to see them often. It's a huge and relief hearing your process, experiences and knowledge about it. Thank you again for all the great information!
Thank you so much for the info! In a YouTube video of someone keeping a communal, they mentioned that they ate better and grew faster, but that's all just what I heard from videos. I just really wanted to be sure I wasn't being cruel by keeping them alone if they preferred company. I'm...
So.. I'm really considering getting an Monocentropus Balfouri, it's been my dream tarantula since I got into the hobby. I was wondering though, is it cruel to keep them individually? Every balfouri communal I hear about, they thrive a lot more. I'd also like to see them more because they're...
