I'll never stop naming them...
A- Because they deserve a name because they are each unique living creatures
B- (perhaps more importantly lol) I name each of mine a name related to their species and it helps me remember who's who and their species LMAO. For example, my p. metallica's name is...
If you'r gonna keep it in there, much more substrate... and LOTS more greenery and bark to make climbing safe. If the top is mesh you want there to be something softer to break the fall, and making a shorter fall, and not fall all the way to the hard ground. Also if you arrange it in such a...
I gotta say, unlike many here, I agree with the initial post...
I tend to house my Ts in a bit larger enclosures then necessarily recommended. And I hear people say all the time that their Ts are not active. I know it depends on species to some extent, but at night, almost every single night...
I have always done very plush natural looking habitats... but it may be kinda cool to do a themed one sometime!
Wonder if my other Ts will be jealous or make fun of the new guy if I do lol??
A small curved log (like you buy at just about any pet store) leaned against the glass works great for hides for me! I put a little bit of greenery or moss on top where its open so that it's more closed off and 'homey'. Doing it against the glass and making it the most attractive place to nest...
She's just starting to explore more. They are quite capable of climbing, all seven of mine are usually on their glass at night (my big ones and small ones alike) and rarely on the ground. Just enjoy that you get to see her being more active and you get to see her moving around; great picture...
My p. metallica is also pretty no muss no fuss as you said... but she does some funny moves when she molts... but nothing like this. The pic below I took of her molting once. Is it just the picture or is all her blue turned brown (Indicator of molt but even when mine molts she's not this...
UPDATE: Happy to report that Boo decided all on her own to relocate herself. After being in her 'super cacoon' for three weeks, she molted and moved on and made a home in a much more convenient place that makes much more sense and where she has way more cover with less danger of a fall :)
Plus...
My husband sent me this picture from work and they are trying to figure out what it is.... in looking online I think its something called a green crab spider but am unfamiliar with it and was hoping for some clarification?
He is about 1/2 inch he said and there's no web near him. My husband...
I mean on the one hand I am glad she isn't scared of them at all and willing to handle them... but the way she did so was wildly inappropriate and not safe for her, or the T
Ugh I cringe at the thought of him being so little and being smashed in the lid :punch::sorry::stop::(
& I completely...
I love that you prefaced this statement with the word 'yet'... means your a realist LOL... you WILL eventually do something wrong (we all do), but at least you've come to the right place when you do :)
I say 'had to buy' because I was definitely not leaving him there.... I've got a soft spot for any animal in need. They are not a chain and are family owned which I like and I typically have a good experience with their large selection, quality of their setups, and knowledge of their animals...
You don't need to do anything... premolt can take a really long time. I know how stressful this is as a newbie; I called the breeder with my first one freaking out thinking it would starve to death lol. My newest addition sealed herself up the day I got her (three weeks ago) and finally just...
I guess that was my concern/questions... would 10-11 weeks of poop hurt them? They almost never poop in their water just the glass and the lid; I still don't understand how they poop upside down on the lid lol :)
:p:D:playful:
He'd never admit it but I think so too
Heck yeah... I showed my husband this post and he said the same... we'd be burning the sheets and moving out lol :p:D:smuggrin:
My internship for my Masters starts in October and goes for 9 months (gone for 10 weeks at a time) so I get it!! My husband and best friend have agreed to tag team it as long as I make sure they don't require rehousing while I am gone :)
Your right, food is the easy part; I am comfortable with...
Just to verify I read it right that someone was this utterly ignorant and stupid... they had a 'Salt Lick' in its water... like as in a salt lick like you use with horses, deer, goats, sometimes domestic and small animals, etc?
I am just trying to wrap my brain around this lol????
I acquired my first New World terrestrial T yesterday to add to the collection. He is a Brachypelma vagans, leg span about an inch across; we named him very fittingly Culo. My usual pet store has had him for quite a while and honestly I had been looking at him but waiting for him to get a bit...
