    I may be in mourning!

It wasn't really in stuffy conditions. The photo before (that looked wet) was reflections from the vermiculum in the substrate. The curly had been fine. I mean REALLY fine. For weeks. Scuttling about allover, digging itself little burrows. I was really loving having the critter. I think the...

    I may be in mourning!

Checked on it this afternoon and its legs were curled under. Sh**. My first ever T dead at 7 weeks as a shop bought sling. Checked again tonight and same situation. Legs curled under and in same position. So I started to empty the deli cup. And it moved - slightly, but shed another leg. Not...

    I may be in mourning!

Hoping that's the case. Yesterday I really thought it was a dead sling. Today I'm not so sure. I do have an unhealthy habit of checking on the blighter, so shall leave alone now for a few days now it's back in the tiny pot it came in!

    I may be in mourning!

Thanx for the replies and advice folks. You'll be pleased to hear my little one is still alive. It's incredibly sluggish though. But every time I view the perspex box he/she's in, regardless of its few movements, it IS usually in a different place. I'll not go overboard with water and prey for a...

    I may be in mourning!

Thank you for the info. The substrate isn't drenched, but it is far more moist than I suspect it needs to be. It's 'SpiderLife'. Won't buy it again - from the point I opened it I thought it was too damp. I'd originally had it in simple garden centre peat (wish I'd kept it in that now). It does...

    I may be in mourning!

EDIT: Just seen it move. So it ain't dead. OK. Will endeavour to take a pic and upload. Give me a few mins. Incredibly difficult to get an indicative shot of the spider, but encouragingly, it has moved places But I will show you what I just photographed in a sec These images are one I took a...

    I may be in mourning!

Many, many weeks ago, back in March, I joined this forum because I had bought a less than 1cm Brachypelma A. sling. I ran around frantically for the bugger for weeks, making sure my home was warm enough, killing small mealworm for it, dropping in the odd fruitfly etc. I assume the spider is (at...

    T in Billie Eilish's mouth.

You're right and as reactionary as your answers and questions are I'll succeed defeat. I suppose we keep spiders in little enclosures, relative to their natural stomping ground, but, generally we do it because we are fascinated by them and want to watch a secretive, yet hugely eco-important...

    T in Billie Eilish's mouth.

Because it was for entertainment. To draw attention to oneself needlessly somewhat at the expense of another animal. I feed my T. live insects because that's what it eats in the wild. No I'm not a vegan (my sister is and that's her choice I have no problem with). I wouldn't choose to take my T...

    T in Billie Eilish's mouth.

Really cannot be bothered with such idiocy. Like on the TV show 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' in the UK (and other countries, I believe). Great format. Funny conversation and challenges, but I fail to see why inverts need to suffer for it. For many years they didn't seem to kill things...

Your favorite T? Your least favorite T?

I'm a bit biased and a bit of a novice (T.-wise). I have a teeny baby B.Albo. Not because I wanted a cheap T. or a widely popular T. but just because I was dipping my toe in the tropical sling waters. I've kept and studied oodles of UK spiders (Pholicidae, dysderae, eratigena/tegenaria...

    Water Bowls for Slings

Realise it's a bit of an old thread, but I'm still a noob and kind of doing my research. I have a B.Albo, just over a month old from when I bought it as a 1cm sling [which in my opinion it still is - not seen it molt or get any larger yet]. I've been feeding it chopped up mealworm now and again...

Which foreign website can I buy a tarantula?

Please don't try to do illegal trading in cold-blooded animals on this forum, Paccen, it's not good. In the UK and the US, we have laws on inverts and coldblooded species. Please DO join in, but DON'T try to do international trades. Probably seeing me as a back door as I'm a new member, but I...

Brachypelma Albopilosum buried itself almost 2 months ago. Is it ok? And will it hibernate until spr

Bonkers species. My first T. in fact, but I'm no stranger to spiders. Had a sling now B.Pelma Albopilsom for going on a month. Tiny. Had heating on, it's been fed. Regularly. It occasionally nibbles chopped up mealworm. It's eaten a moth weaks ago. It's almost dead sometimes and I feel like...

Which foreign website can I buy a tarantula?

Hi, Paccen. I'm pretty much a newbie on this forum, but I can guarantee you can't export a tarantula (nor any living invert) from North America or Europe to Asia or Australasia, regardless of the postal system you choose. It would be highly illegal without proper export and customs intervention.

Some kind of soldier beetle I'd say. You're in the US. I'm in the UK. Wouldn't think of feeding it to your tarantula if that's what you're asking!

    Brachypelma Albopilosum Sling/Juvenile

Thanks folks for the advice. Yup I have it in a very small enclosure. It's a matchbox display case type crystal plastic box about 4 inches by 2.5 inches. Originally had a Doctor Who figurine in it (my other hobby lol). When the sling arrived on Tuesday, as much as I'd read up on what to do and...

Finally a glimpse of my Brachy A

Much, much larger than the baby I have. Mine's about as large as 1cm from tip of front leg to tip of back leg. First T. I've ever had. Constantly worried little fella/lassie will die, but so far (touch wood) it's still alive at room temperature and I'm in the UK. Spends 95% of its time down a...

    Brachypelma Albopilosum Sling/Juvenile

Can I feed a live (small) mealworm to a teeny tiny brachy sling? I won't (unless someone on here recommends it). Just that I got the critter today that seems smaller than 1cm. Won't eat the dead one I plopped in earlier, but is merrily in and out of its hole now darkness has fallen. Tarantulas...
