    Calommata signata

Mine hadn’t eaten for a year, nor had I even seen it during that time so I eventually dug it up. Sadly I found her remains full of parasitic wasp eggs. This is a risk with wild caught spiders.

Review by 'MoranDisciple' on item 'Latrodectus mactans'

Explain why you’re giving this rating? Not sure what that means, I thought the star system was to describe how bad the bite was. So I’m leaving it at one star.

Requests for Breeding, Bite & Sting Report Items

Hi, I was recently but by a mature female Latrodectus mactans and was surprised there wasn’t a category to post my report in, as this could be important information for those wishing to keep this species. Hope to hear back on this soon!

My first T is an Hmac

I would not recommend an Arizona blonde nor a Chilean rosehair as your first t. I got a rose hair many years ago after hearing how they’re the best starter t, and the thing literally never moved. It reacted to prey items by going into a stress pose, unless they were crickets that were literally...

Found Wood/moss outside for invert enclosure, tips for disinfection?

Personally I’ve collected almost all my enrichment items and isopod cleaner crews. (A. vulgare) Never bothered with disinfection as there are countless beneficial bacteria/springtails that I would be eliminating, never had a single issue with disease.

Do trapdoor spiders like to eat BEETLES?

I love your Liphistius videos and I mean to get one. My cyclocosmia is absolutely beautiful but what's the point if I never see her? Personality is key to trapdoors/fossorials!

Do trapdoor spiders like to eat BEETLES?

My cyclocosmia doesn't even eat while I'm there. I have to drop in a feeder and leave for a couple hours and even then it doesn't always eat. I've never tried a beetle but I would guess they're more likely to attack them than most T's due to their more "heavy duty" bodies.

    Solifugid Help

Update: it seems I was too late. The solifugid has assumed the weird hibernation position and now will not move or respond to any stimuli in any way. Interestingly, its abdomen seems to have elongated and become more noodle shaped. Maybe it's just me, but I would love some input on whether it...

    My inverts.

I've been keeping my colony in a critter keeper with absolutely no sub and no humidity. I just have on piece of bark on the bottom and one leaning diagonally across the enclosure. They've all matured into adults. I always ensure there are a few red runners in with them. I also added a small bowl...

    Solifugid Help

Thanks for the info; hopefully the females have a longer lifespan. I made a much larger container filled with a mixture of sand and clay that I'm now waiting on so it can dry. The substrate is 2 inches at its deepest point. Will this work for hibernation? And how cold should I keep it for the 9...

    Solifugid Help

Thanks for the tips but I think my specimen is more likely some kind of Paragaleodes. If the one tweet I read was correct about all Paragaleodes species, apparently they can live almost a decade but do require a dormancy period lasting most of the year:hungover:. I dont want to keep my specimen...

    Solifugid Help

I purchased a solifugid labeled "sun spider" from the hamburg show Dec. 7. The vendor told me he easily kept them alive for several years in a dry desert setup at around 90. He didnt actually know the species, which is suspicious and one of the reasons I'm posting this here. Does anyone know...

    Totally laughable caresheet!

Oh god, it's far worse than I imagined. This was so awful it actually surpassed the "it's so bad I can't stop reading" category. I literally couldn't make it more than a few paragraphs in. The amount of completely incorrect information in that article makes me think, or at least desperately...

Centipedes and climate change: will they survive?

Progress should be as fast as possible. What's worse: some south american farmers losing their jobs, or tens of millions of refugees pouring over the border because they can no longer survive the conditions in their homeland?
