    Will my T drown?

My hamorii seem to like it try. Both fill their small water dishes with dirt.

    Brachypelma albopilosum Pre moult behaviour

Really depends on the T. From my many B. Albos, I have observed; Going off of eating. Eating until the day of moulting. Bald patch. No patch. Burrowing and sealing off the burrow. Burrowing without sealing it off. Creating a mat and moulting on the surface. Not creating a mat and moulting on...

    Are you kidding me?

Exactly what @MintyWood826 said. If she wasn't in heavy premoult, I wouldn't have been miffed at all. But she is, and the crickets I pulled out were as large or larger than she was.

    Are you kidding me?

Ts aren't kept in small plastic Tupperware in the wild, and the vast majority of wild Ts don't make it to adulthood. Because they're eaten. My bedroom isn't the wild, it's a place where I can minimize the risks to my animals to further minimize losses.

He got into your secret fun stash and now needs a different sort of rehab. ;)

    Are you kidding me?

Ah, it's not random, tbf. I thought I could get away with not dumping her substrate and disturbing her too much, since she came in a larger container. Lesson learned.

    Are you kidding me?

Zophobas morio (superworms) and Tenebrio molitor (mealworms) are different species. I was paying for Z. Morio which is larger and more expensive. That's the difference. I'm not saying that it's not partially my fault here. I'm saying that I'm not buying from this store again now that I know...

    fragrances?

Fragrances are known to kill birds and put children in the hospital with URIs. Just don't take the chance.

    Are you kidding me?

I found out they were selling me mealworms as superworms on top of this, though. I was feeding my fully grown 6" G. Porteri 4 ""superworms"" per feeding. Now that I have real superworms, she only needed two to have her fill. And now that I have actual superworms, I have to get proper sized...

    Are you kidding me?

They were pretty well hidden deep in the substrate. I could have done a more thorough check, but I didn't find them at first, and nothing popped out while I was flattening it after checking and removing the dead cricket on the surface. And I don't exactly consider that too small for crickets to...

Clean up crews eating molting inverts?

My isopods happily snack on t moults, so I don't see why they wouldn't go after a T.

    Are you kidding me?

It wasn't in a little container of dirt. This is what I bought my B. Emilia in. I added in a hide and removed a sling vial they had sitting on the dirt for some reason. Also packed down the substrate and only noticed it after I was about to shelf her.

Or just tell the customer... Mind you, I did figure out that this same place was selling me giant mealworms as superworms just now, so that's awesome. :/ So yeah. Fingers crossed.

Things that bug you in the hobby

Finding out that the superworms I was buying were just large mealworms (that may be sterile) and having to set up a new colony of breeders for my larger ts. -_- I just hope my mealie beetles aren't infertile.

    Are you kidding me?

Those would have been some expensive crickets. :grumpy: I get that people might not clean out the enclosures before selling, but a heads up about the crickets would have been nice.

    Tarantula splits on legs?

Also the bald abdomen is likely from her kicking hair. Being shipped or moved is stressful on tarantulas. It will stay like that until her next moult.

    Tarantula splits on legs?

    Completely normal for the species.

    Are you kidding me?

Yeah. And this sling is about 3/4". I found two 3/4" crickets and one 1" cricket.

    Are you kidding me?

No, I purchased it from them today. I got her home and discovered the crickets afterwards. But this was a pretty expensive sling about the same size as/a little smaller than the crickets, who had no food source in there other than her. I don't know when they were fed last. It could have been a...

    Are you kidding me?

The place I purchased her from. :| I nearly put her enclosure in my sling box with the intention of leaving her to moult in peace for a few days before noticing the live crickets in her substrate.
