Out of the hide and looking good! ^_^

    Your favorite feeders?

Crickets. I only have one T, so I just pick up a couple at the pet shop every other week. She seems fine, even a little fat!

The OFFICIAL YouTube thread for tarantula care and husbandry channels

Love Exotics Lair (entertaining and occasionally informative, has a cool collection), TarantulaKat (seems very nice, definitely knows her stuff, and pretty too, plus has a fun relationship with her Ts like EL does), and The Dark Den.

All lovely! ^_^ And all great names (I think Fresca is my favorite name of the lot though)

Do anyone else’s Ts do this?

I have yet to see Sif do that! They do have such cute feet though!

Do anyone else’s Ts do this?

Haha. Well, I AM new to this and thought it was one of those things where some did it and some didn’t. I didn’t know it was practically universal.

My Sif has a mythological name too. She’s an a. chalcodes and named after the Norse goddess of Earth who was the wife of Thor and famous for her golden hair. ^_^

    A. chalcodes enclosure! (first T!)

Thanks for the info! This is a ZooMed intended for terrestrial tarantulas and other burrowing animals, but I’ll definitely add some substrate and pack it better.

    A. chalcodes enclosure! (first T!)

    Angles are a tricky thing.

    A. chalcodes enclosure! (first T!)

Maybe it’s best then to see if she settles in and turns one of those hides into her main burrow/home and also observe and make sure she’s not trying any climbing that could get her injured or worse. Better view of the amount of substrate.

    A. chalcodes enclosure! (first T!)

There are no bottoms to the hides. They’re more dome-like. ^_^ But you think she needs more substrate and possibly a different enclosure lid? She doesn’t like to climb much, and has about 4 inches of substrate. Think more would be best? Thanks for the good wishes!

What’s going on with my T?

I don’t know when she moulted last (have only had her under a month!). Good to know she seems ok.... She’s my first T and I already love her to bits, so naturally I’m maybe a bit overworried for her health.

What’s going on with my T?

Sif’s joints look weird. Is she about to molt or something? She’s an a. chalcodes.
  16. SkatesSpidersStories

    A. chalcodes enclosure! (first T!)

This is my first T (an A. Chalcodes named Sif) in her new enclosure! Think it’ll be good for her?

Do anyone else’s Ts do this?

Haha. They are funny alien critters indeed. ^_^ Looking forward to the ride as a new owner!

Do anyone else’s Ts do this?

I’ve seen it in described and shown in videos on YouTube, but it’s fun to have seen it in person. :) Didn’t know it was so common. I’m a newbie so please forgive the ignorance.
