thank you so much guys! You have been so helpful! I've been busy with some schoolwork, but i'll make some changes and upload a new and improved version. Thanks again!
So I posted a while ago that I created a list of all of the tarantulas currently in the U.S hobby and you guys were so helpful with helping me round it out and make sure that I have everything covered. So I revisited my list and tried to add links to photos of each tarantula species and links to...
My first T was a gorgeous little aphonopelma species that I found on my driveway in California. I found her (I think it was a her didn't know a lot about T's at that time) when I was about 6 or 7 years old and fell in love with Tarantula's ever since. Unfortunately she passed because she had...
I work at a taxidermy shop and my boss just ordered a bunch of these. They are labeled as eurypelma spinicrus but they don’t look like it to me. What do you guys think?
also, I didn't include all of the suggestions, because I made sure that I researched each one to make sure that they were indeed in the U.S. so a few didn't get included.
I appreciate all the help fixing, and filling out this list. I'll update it when I get home from work today, but in the meantime please feel free to comment any other corrections or additions you have, but don't feel obligated.
wow, thanks! I'm really tired and just threw on a bunch of those so it deffinitely needs some revision. I'll update it tomorrow.
Oh, and I know species names aren't capitalized, but for some reason it just drives me crazy when my spreadsheets aren't capitalized, so it's a personal preference...
So I have been working to try and include all of the species on one document that are available in the U.S hobby. This doesn't mean that they are all commonly available, but all of these do come up for sale on occasion. If anyone sees any species that are the same species with different names on...
Anyone other than me annoyed by tarantula premolts? Lol I have two T's that have been in premolt going on 7 months now. I know its normal but when you are waiting to breed them its so annoying! Anyone else want to rant? Go for it!
If she turns out to be a female then yes you got a pretty good deal, but even though you think she is a female, if she turns out to be a male you really didn't get a great deal. I personally don't know that I would have taken the risk, but if you are happy with her, than good job!
My pretty 5 inch Phormictopus Auratus Female after recieving a male dubia.
I know it isn't the best picture, she is skittish so this is the best I can get.
I have a brachypelma albopilosum that is absolutely awesome so yes for a beginner that is my top pick! But at the same time, most aphonopelma's tend to be pretty easy keepers. I.E. Aphonopelma Chalcodes, Aphonopelma Seemanni, Aphonopelma Hentzi etc. Good luck!
Tarantula's won't over eat. So if you want her to grow fast keep feeding her as much as she wants to take, but at her size, if you don't feel like feeding her super often, I would feed her once every 1-2 weeks. Hope that helps!
My biggest advice would be don't house them in an enclosure that is way to big, and remember to always provide fresh water. As for the species a chaco golden knee is a good species although they are a relatively slow grower so if you don't want to wait a long time I would go with something else...
