Time to start a tread to show my collection and it's development over time. Currently I have a bedroom in my house dedicated to the less social animals. First is one a Grammostola sp. maule Thrixopelma cyaneolum Avicularia avicularia Rehoused one if my big girls. She was sold to me as a B...

    Another rescue(?)

Your little new one does look a little worse for wear but not necessarily in dire need. I doubt it's very dehydrated since it ate. Dehydrated T's can't suck up their foods. Maybe a funky molt happened. It kinda reminds me of a T I had that molted in too small of a space. If that's the case keep...

Brazilian Red Rump - Grammasola actaeon?

That's a great find. I went to a couple of sites I like to shop at and one is selling G. actaeon 1" slings for $45. I also have one that I bought a couple of years ago and whoa is it a fun one to have.

Longest Time you haven't seen your T?

I have a Cyriopagopus lividus that I see maybe twice a year. I knew she was ok because her food kept disappearing and her water dish would be moved. A couple of months ago I finally saw her dragging a molt out of a newly created opening to her burrow. She's now big enough for an adult enclosure...

What to do if I can no longer care for my Ts?

I'm so sorry you are facing such a dilemma. You said there is a possibility that this could leave you unable to care your pets. Which means there is a possibility of that not happening. I'm wondering if there is some way you can arrange for someone to help you care for your animals during this...

    Burying Water Dish

During a rehouse of my Lp we found 4 water dishes buried under and in her hide. Sometimes getting the dish back can be a challenge. Refill when you water or replace and water if the dish has disappeared. All part of the fun!

    Spider Week at our house

I love getting slings so I can watch them grow and change. Sounds like a fun week! If you take pics I'd like to see them.

What is your collection composed of mostly?

I mostly have new world terrestrials. Then again I started branching out into old worlds barely 2 years ago after 4 years of sticking to new world T's. Although I do love my Avics.

    Thrixopelma cyaneolum not molting

Mine does a little bit of the "bum wave" when getting moved into the catch cup but would rather just sit there. When I'm doing cage clean ups it's on the calmer side.

    Thrixopelma cyaneolum not molting

Thanks, I'm processing more substrate right now. I used up what was already processed rehousing a few other T's this morning. I'm not so much worried as confused because this one is not yet full grown. It has a dls of about 3 inches. I've had a hard time finding info from others about adult...

    Thrixopelma cyaneolum not molting

I got a juvenile a couple of years ago and it has yet to molted in my care. I have a habitat room that is kept in the low 70's to high 60's in the winter and high 70's to low 80's in the summer. The room is also kept at 50% humidity. I water once or twice a week depending on needs. The substrate...

    My first tarantula is molting!

Oh how exciting! I always feel like I'm watching someone give birth to themselves when mine are molting. They get their new clothes and sometimes a new attitude. Enjoy the show and let us know how everything turns out.

    Favorite Freebie

My favorite freebie is a rescued tarantula. One day I got a text from a friend with a picture of a Lasiodora parahybana asking if I wanted it. Turns out it had been found in a recently vacated apartment. Someone left her behind when they moved and she was still soft from having molted. As the...

I had an Aphonopelma sp. flagstaff orange that didn't dig or hide but seemed to like to strut her stuff. She was out in her enclosure all the time. Sometimes you just get a bolder spider.

They manage, She'll redecorate as she sees fit to anyway. lol. Also you don't need the rock in the water dish.
