I'm dragging this ancient thread back up for logging purposes; today I found my Gorgyrella dead in her burrow. It looked like a failed moult, as there was an exuvium partially stuck to her dried up body. It might have been my own fault, as the soil in her tank was a bit drier than what I usually...
I need some help with the identification of this millipede. Purchased as Archispirostreptus gigas, but that's obviously not correct. It's 10-12 cm long (roughly 4"), and with a distinct caudal projection pointing slightly downwards.
Any help is much appreciated :)
Thanks :)
I keep her at room temp, usually between 63 and 75 ºF depending on the season. Two years ago she had several days in a temp of around 50 ºF when my central heating failed during a vacation. Definitely a hardy species :)
I have no idea about the lifespan of this species, and I'm not...
Got my hands on a cheap 120fps point and shoot, and fortunately the spider was up for a snack. It looks like the meal almost gets away this time, but she reels it in anyway. Clip here :)
Thx, yes I'm amazed that she's still with me. Even though they're mygalomorphs, hence not true spiders, but still wouldn't expect her to last this long. I think it was touch and go for about two months last year when she refused to feed and burrow, and got weaker by the day. Suddenly she just...
8 years have passed, and I figured it was time for an update :D
This lady is still going strong. I bought her in february 2002, so it'a approaching ten years in my care. She has molted once as far as I know (probably several times, but i've only observed the shed exuvium once), but has not...
Very nice pictures, Draiman :)
How do you control the aperture when reversing the lens? Does your kit-lens have an aperture ring, or are you forced to shoot stopped all the way down?
What's the typical working distance with this setup?
Thanks for helping me out with this one. It just hate it when I have to leave blank labels on any of my tanks :o
Ethmostigmus trigonopodus it is...(for now  )
Thanks :) I'm afraid my camera is nothing fancy. An old 3mp Nikon cp 995.
regards
Dan
Thanks a lot for the help so far :)
I tried to take some close-ups, and this is what I came up with while cursing the shiny cuticle for giving me those nasty reflections
The picture of the antenna might be a bit too dark and kinda blurry near the base, but I hope it's possible...
Yesterday I received this little creature of which I know nothing about, except it's a female (it dropped some eggs according to the previous owner).
I know the chances of a positive id from pictures are rather slim, so if there are any appendages or other characterstics I should photograph...
I wasn't really planning on mating them, they're from the same sac and I guess he'll pass away before she reaches maturity :o
Bearo: I use an old digicam (Nikon cp995). And if I get to breed any of these formosas I'll throw a couple over the border to sweden :)
Thanks for the kind support guys :o
I'm grateful for every suggestions here, as this really puzzles me :?
Well, none of my other tarantulas have any similiar problems. I feed them all the same type of prey, mostly crickets, mealworms and cockroaches. I don't think anyone has been...
I've tried offering food on several occations, but she's definately not interested. When changing the pad with water I place her on top of it every once in a while, and I've even turned her around a few times to apply a few drops directly to her mouth area and waited for her to suck it up :o...
Hello
Just popping by with an update on my sick Brachypelma albopilosum (discussed in this thread). It's been three weeks now and she's still alive and kicking (well, barely kicking). She doesn't show any signs of getting better. Her abdomen looks to have shrunken to some degree, but...
I tried to take a couple of shots, but this was the best I could do as I don't want to disturb her more than necessary. I realize it's not as crisp and close up as it could be :o
Were you thinking of something in particular? Is there anything I should look for in that area?
Dan
I have kept her a little on the wet side, as I always have with all my B. albopilosum's, and I really don't think she is dehydrated. The positioning of the legs Is probably due to her scopulae sticking to the clean plastic surface of the box.
Thanks for the input though
Dan
I moved it to a dry container three days ago (immediately after I found it in it's current state) and the smell seems to be less strong now, but still no change regarding the other issues. No trace of the mentioned odour in her terrarium.
I've examined her very thoroughly and I can't seem to...
