Hey all, I have an a. chalcodes & I think I need to add more substrate to the enclosure. My question is, is there a preferred way of doing this? She's currently webbed up a nice area on the current substrate, I don't really want to move or alter this, but not sure if I should add in small...

This is what I do as well. I only have one T, so very couple of weeks, I'll stop by Petco & pick up a couple of crickets.

On another note, did your chalcodes burrow all the way down there or was a it premade? I hear they like to dig.....seems like a good amount of substrate!

Generally speaking, can A. chalcodes handle cold temperatures? My apartment gets pretty cold in the winter (50's). Last year, she didn't seem to have any issues....(but I just got her, so I was new) But as a desert species, can they handle (somewhat long term) colder temperatures with issues?

I thought that at first, but everyone has said the T isn’t a mature male. All the webbing happened after the molt, but I also waited 3 weeks before feeding, so I thought it was related to her being hungry.

I agree. I was worried about my a. chalcodes. She's webbed all over her enclosure & now never goes into her hide.

This is all good to hear, lol. My a chalcodes does this sometime & I wasn't sure why. Good to hear it's normal (for a T) behavior!

Thanks for the responses :-) I certainly won't keep the supplies near the T, I was more or less referring to actually using the products in the same room. Like spraying fabrics or the carpet in the same room where the enclosure is.
