I was thinking they might be a little small. The bigger one that is a female looks like she's getting ready to molt so I'll wait on her. The male molted about 3 weeks ago. What is their max size?
Hi, I was wondering at what size can you breed Nhandu coloratovillosus. I just had one of mine molt into a male. I have 3 possible females. All are around 4 inches. Thanks in advance.
No updates. Looks like I'm basically screwed. I don't have the money to get a lawyer and the ones I did talk to don't seem to want to take the case because of how unusual it is in this area. I want to call the director of the DNR but I know they mess with me again out of retaliation and I don't...
Oh I know about the expense thing LOL. Your set up will still give them the temp gradients they need, so stay with it. Just monitor the temps like at night and mid day to see where they are. I really like the clear containers, easy to maintain and they just look good.
If it's holding the temps OK then it should be fine. What works the best for you is good. The flexwatt is just thinner. There are several places that sell it. I had had some left over from a snake rack and tried it with good results. A good thermostat is needed so that's an extra expense. What...
I use both. As long as you don't use anything to abrasive to clean it the plastic will stay clear for some time. Sun light will fade plastic also. I also use plastic jars from Wal Mart with good results for my smaller species.
Check out Flexwatt heating. It's paper thin and you might be able to run it in the back were it's less noticeable. I think the 3 inch runs about 110-120 degrees fahrenheit so you'll need a thermostat.
NICE! I did this years ago as an incubator for my snake eggs but mine had a thermostat. I just might make one myself. It's cool you got the right temps with no thermostat. A good one will run you over $100.
I didn't vote either. I did both, B. jacksoni I think are nicer looking but H. trilineatus seem to be not as common. Conservation stole all mine (another thread). Do both is my vote.
Be sure there is a vertical hide about 45 degrees so they can molt properly. I learned that out the hard way. I lost almost half of my first batch before I found this out. Good luck, one of my favorite species.
COOL! I bred those back in '93. Temps and feeding play a part in how fast they grow too. I sold all my babies before they reached adults so I'm not quite sure how long it takes but some did grow faster than others even with the same care.
The DNR guy has a reputation on freezing animals he seizes. He's supposed to be for the welfare of the animal but kills them instead. You know what they say about people who abuse animals, they turn out to be serial killers LOL. I checked the ticket out and looked up what they gave me a warning...
That's what's going to happen. I talked to a few lawyers today and one deals with exotic animal laws. They think I have been seriously messed with. The DNR guy does that intimidation thing with the threats to try and keep people from doing anything legal against them (DNR/conservation). I sent...
Good video. I did catch some lies the one guy (that did the confiscation) said. Abuse of authority to the extreme. His wife did lie to the conservation officers earlier this year before my buddy's May confiscation. She told him it was OK to keep them but they preferred him not sell them. His...
That's the main reason I posted this thread. I have been keeping some type of animal, reptile, or bug since I was 9. I worked with endangered reptiles and had all the permits before getting the reptiles. I did my research long ago on the more toxic scorpions and the laws in my state. Why after...
No city laws that I know of. They didn't say anything about my snakes but they're all Ball Pythons and rarely exceed 6'. If I had the money to move I would. Missouri has more lenient laws and some counties don't have any. I'm just waiting on phone calls from a friends lawyer. He's going over the...
The guy said he called some one about the pedes but when I showed him on line about the scorpions he took them anyway. I don't understand it either. There were 2 conservation officers (they had no clue what was what) and this other guy. I don't want to give names out but he works for DNR. I...
WOW, thanks for all the replies. For some reason I couldn't log in. Never had that problem. Back in May a friend I work for had asked a certain person that works for DNR if it was OK to display some of the more hot scorpions. She said it was OK. Them came in conservation to seize them. He gave...
