is petroleum jelly harmful to tarantulas?

I had a red runner colony up until 3 years ago after I developed allergies. What are you keeping them in? While I had them I never had a problem with them climbing, I used a plastic storage tote with a few inches between opening and egg crate. I can't give an answer on the jelly being harmful. I...

    Show me your webbing!

    Enclosures per size of tarantula

No, I use some enclosures that arent meant to be. Such as bearded dragon food containers, clear Tupperware, display cases, etc., I'm just looking to see what everyone uses for adults. Im going through the enclosures forum now.

I've tried the internet. I'm always brought to exo terras and those acrylic enclosures. Both which can be a little pricey. I'll check on here though, completely forgot about the search section

How does this look for GBB sling

Ah yes, a small cork bark slab or anything else they can dig out a little bit for a hide. Good call.

How does this look for GBB sling

Leave the substrate slightly damp, not wet. Q nice misting should do. Be sure that the ventilation holes are smaller than the T's abdomen, I learned that the hard way. How big is the GBB sling? They do like to web so I'd toss in a few anchor points aside from moss.

    Enclosures per size of tarantula

So this is mainly for adult T's. What are some good enclosures for species that get between say 4-7" inches? Would a 5 gallon tank with a replaced top suffice? And the larger critter keepers? What else is out there that can be used? Arboreals/fossorial/terrestrial a like.

    Experience vs Knowledge

I made this thread not because I'm one sided, but because I wanted to hear from everyone else on what they thought. Here is my opinion on the matter. Experience will never trump Knowledge. Knowledge will never trump Experience. Knowledge and Experience go hand in hand. You can not have one...

Is my salmon pink birdeater terrarium too big?

@Tenebrarius you disagree that it's too big? Please correct my ignorance if I'm mistaken but the recommended enclosure for T's is 2-3 the size, no? that looks to be 10x(+) the size.

Is my salmon pink birdeater terrarium too big?

Is my salmon pink birdeater terrarium too big?

Good rule of thumb is about 2-3 times the size of the T. Though it is debatable.

    Experience vs Knowledge

Exactly what I'm trying to get at. Mostly. As I said I am awful at wording on keyboard, I feel like an idiot knowing I could have said something similar. Lol

    Experience vs Knowledge

I will try to simplify my point as much as possible. I'm absolutely terrible with words via keyboard so excuse me if it seems confusing. You can not gain experience on something without first having a good understanding of it. And at times it is vice versa. What I am most importantly trying to...

    Experience vs Knowledge

Right. Again, I'm not saying knowledge is the be all. What I'm trying to get at is this, no matter what hobby, job, career you get involved in, having the proper knowledge will avoid MANY complications. Experience may come from knowledge and knowledge may come from experience. Just because you...
