So is Hedorah!:)
To BrianS: I'm confused...WHY do you want the possum to leave? :?
I think you should just give in, and share your backyard with it. It is willing to put up with you carrying it around like a bowling ball (very un-neighbourly of you). Won't it leave you alone, if you leave...
Damn Brian, you have some artsy looking printing!
Come over and re-label all my containers, please! :D My printing sucks...
I label the scientific names, and the common. My spiders get a pet name once I confirm they are females, and then they get a "heart".
D.
Last month I killed my fifth attempt at raising one of these animals.
:wall:
Next time they come available from Tarantula Canada, I'm going to buy TEN!!
TEN!!! I'm going to fight my versicolor curse with everything I've got!
*ahem* That said, I've raised other species of avicularia...
hello
A martingale collar is also known as a 'limited choke' or 'half choke' collar. Also sold as a 'no-slip' collar. They tighten, which is why they cannot be left on the dog all the time.
You don't mention what breed of dog you have, this will make a big difference in your decision.
I own...
Hello
I'm currently taking care of a pair of gorgeous black and white sand boas. The female of the pair has always been a big eater and has taken F/T from the start. The male STILL refuses it, and must have live. The girl is now twice his size and thick. She's eating adult mice now, he's still...
Oh, I'm so surprised at your post!
I've got four emilias at different stages of growth and they're all super-uber-cutie-cuddly tarantulas that don't fling hair or ever get angry. Pixie is the biggest at 4inches and she's a little sweetie. She is the spider I'm most likely to let walk on my hand...
Hello
Your artistry is great! Very vibrant colors, very lifelike spider!
 Very disturbing composition! BAD! Bad!
(I fear dolls!)
I see that pic, and fear for the poor spider!
That poor redknee! About to be mangled by a horrible puppet! AAAAAAHHHHhhhh....
D.
Hello Mina, your questions are good ones!
Yes, there is WAY less vibration by just lifting off the top from the base. It lifts smoothly. Unless the T has webbed all the way down, or to the water dish. But you encounter this anyway no matter the enclosure, if you have a T that webs this much...
Gotta agree with the above post. Cerbera has a talent for saying things offensively.
Anyways, I don't use KK because of the hard to open doors and lids on them. I hate those! Here is another alternative for arboreals...acrylic teddy bear cases from the craft store. Turn them upside down...
Hello prey
Go ahead and try your experiment. That's what hobbies are for. LOTS of people who beat their chests and yell about the critters' rights to be left alone forget that they keep them in cages for entertainment. Just like the rest of us.
Here is my experience...
Hello
I'm starting to feel sorry for you, Mr. Scorpion dude. You're so anxiously awaiting your spider to DO something! The truth is...spiders do absolutely nothing, a lot. :p Chill.
Yours might be in premolt, since it is fat, it might not. If it is not hungry and isn't going to...
Thank you. :)
Do the avics bolt? hahahahaha, that's a funny one!
Let's put it this way...you need a crowbar to pry them from their webs, and if you do manage to drag them backwards and out, they hop from your hand or cup back into the enclosure as fast as they can. Its quite the struggle...
Hey
Some advice from someone who's killed some pretty nice avics...
You don't need humidity, you need airflow.
Here is where I house my avics, after a lot of trial and error.
No substrate. No misting. Just a waterdish. (which you'll have to clean often since no matter where you put...
The key to ferrets is to ferret proof (hah!) ONE ROOM for them to play in. Giving them access to the whole house is asking for it to be trashed. Its what they do.
Keep in mind they can open zippers, pull out drawers, untie things and climb or jump up better than you'd ever expect them to...
Hello
I remember reading years ago about communal experiments involving Avics and Pokies. The sucessful tanks involve raising groups of slings from the same eggsac. They live peaceably enough given enough food, and will feed together on large prey items. They cannabalize as they grow and fan...
Hello OP
It is not hijacking a thread for someone to have a different opinion than you. I was completely on topic. Do you always get offended when people do not say what you want to hear? You obviously want to be told what a wonderful thing you are doing. Well...yes, I think it is a wonderful...
Hello
I've been following your thread here with interest...congrats on all the new critters to love!
I also really like rats. I had an ancient old blonde rex rat that I nursed through a few ills to an extreme age. But I also help my friend with his rat breeding operation. He raises rats and...
Hello
Congrats on the new addition to the family!
May Kitty live long and be the friend you are hoping for!
I just wanted to throw in my own experience with the dogfood.
I have a whippet, a very athletic breed. I got him at 6 months old and he was eating crap food (colored bits of stuff...
