Wild caught Female Adult Phidippus Audax just laid eggs

Well I guess the Momma Spider wasn't done. Clutch 2 was laid last night. I'm surprised as it's pretty late in the year but its warm in my house. Looks to be around 30 - 40 eggs same as last time.

Wild caught Female Adult Phidippus Audax just laid eggs

Update, Mother is still alive and well and active. There are around 30-40 of her offspring that all dispersed last week into my yard and the weather here is just starting to get colder. Hopefully I see a lot of these next summer I will assume they are her offspring. I have to say the experience...

Wild caught Female Adult Phidippus Audax just laid eggs

That was quite awhile but the last of the babies have left the enclosure and they are all in my yard and have a good start to survive for next year. The Mother appears healthy and has been eating crickets the past week and is currently munching on a medium sized cricket. It's just about to be...

My phidippus Regius laid eggs. What do I do?

It's normal for them to lay infertile eggs if they don't get to mate. I don't know if it affects their health but gravid females do it as well but just with fertilized eggs so I'd assume not much physically. Maybe it does stress them out that they keep losing eggs though over and over. They can...

Wild caught Female Adult Phidippus Audax just laid eggs

Was worried they were never going to hatch but babies are emerging today. First warm day in weeks. How long do I have until they disperse? Planning on letting them go in my yard.

Who's Your Favorite In Your Collection Right Now?

My favorite is my sub adult female bold jumping spider I've raised from a tiny 3rd instar I caught in my backyard. She's molted twice since then and is currently in pre molt and about to molt again any day now. She is the most active and brave of the Bold jumpers I own. She wakes up the...

Time For My Jumper's New Home . . . What Should I do?

It's completely normal for them to disappear for awhile. Anywhere form 3 days to a week or more. They do this when they are in premolt and during molting. Also it can be harmful for them to be disturbed during this time. Next time try to see where it's making it's permanent nest and then you can...

    Phidippus audax alternatives?

I honestly don't agree with anything you just posted. You must be doing something very wrong. Jumpers are some of the hardiest spiders especially if they are native to your area and easiest pets to keep in general. In good conditions in captivity they can live over 2 years easily. Literally all...

    Should I bring her inside?

Probably best to leave her outside being its an Orb weaver. All the grass spiders have been sneaking into my house this past week because of the recent temperature drops as well in Northern CA but I don't like them all over so they have been going back outside. It's not really cold here its just...

Edit: I have to mention that I love and am amazed at how tidy these spiders are. she kicked the dead used up...

Wild caught Female Adult Phidippus Audax just laid eggs

Quick update. It has now been over 3 weeks and no baby spiders but the mother is still guarding them day and night. It has gotten colder (Northern CA so nothing crazy) around here in the last week so Im wondering if that is affecting how long they are taking to emerge? She laid them on Oct 23rd...

    Help!!!

How long did they take to hatch? My female is currently guarding eggs laid Oct 23rd which was a little over 2 weeks ago and I have not yet seen any slings. She's still guarding them and sitting right on top of them when I just checked earlier.

    Decline of Wild Jumpers?

I am also overrun with them now, P Audax and the smaller Habronatus species in my backyard. I thought I had only seen one Phidippus Audax this year earlier in the summer, but that was prior to this October where I started finding sometimes 2 - 3 sub adults a day. I went from just about to...

What Is The Future For My Jumper?

Sub adult jumpers love to make houses in curled up leaves. I almost guarantee that if you provide some nice curled leaves the spider will most likely make a house in one. All the sub adults i've kept preferred small curled up leaves over anything else.

    Handicapped Audax Phiddipus

Usually missing one leg is ok but the front and back on one side might make it hard to live for a little jumper. Luckily if you feed her/him in captivity she might get them back in it's next molt. I don't know if jumpers can also regenerate limbs with their next molt or not.

What’s a good way to collect flies/moths to feed my inverts??

I just use a cup and a piece of heavy paper. I guess it depends on how many inverts you have to feed but my backyard is swarming with blue bottles and house flies so I just cup 2 or 3 every other day to feed my jumpers. It's pretty easy if you have a place where a lot are landing. Once you have...

Sub Adult Phidippus Audax molting again

Update! The little one kicked out her old skin sometime last night but has not yet emerged from her chamber. I love how they kick their old clothes out the door I guess that is something they do. I can't wait to see it's new suit, hopefully it comes out today.

Tips on feeding and watering brooding Jumper?

Pics of the new guy I found in my garage now munching on a big blue bottle I helped him with. His abdomen is tiny probably not alot of prey in there. Also not really sure if its a male too small to be sure but im just calling him a he for now. This is now my 3rd bold jumper ive found this month...

Tips on feeding and watering brooding Jumper?

Thank you! I honestly didn't realize what a haven for bold jumpers my house and yard is. I'm currently feeding another skinny little guy I found in my garage and then right outback I see another small 3rd or 4th instar hunting flies on my trash can. Once I fatten up this guy I found in my...
