In the back there is two 8 inch pieces of bark with a space of about half an inch at the farthest apart going about two inches into the soil. I’ll add some more if needed. The praying mantis was only in there for a little bit, her enclosure had mold in it so I was cleaning it out so I put her...
Earlier today when I checked I found one of my females gave birth:) I don’t want to disturb her so I didn’t get any photos, but I did find some females with scorplings outside where I collected them and I got pictures of them:p
Yeah I have tons and tons of hatchling isopods in there right now. The millipedes are about an inch long, do you think that’s fine? I’ll definitely add some leaf litter and hides then. Anything else I could do?
I forgot to add something. I have a small orchid and some ficus vines in the tank as well. I have 12 sub-adults to adults in the tank; 5 males then 7 females, as a clean up crew I have two different types of wild isopods and spring tails that popped up. There are some millipedes that showed up...
I remade my communal tank for my Isometrus maculatus to make it look better and more natural-ish. It is a twenty gallon tank with 1-2 inches of sand in the bottom then 2 -3 inches of a soil mixture (potting soil, sphagnum moss, cocopeat, trimmed pieces of wild mosses, and sand) then an inch of...
My cousin dared me to, so I fried it in butter after freezing it then salted it. It was actually super good. I actually caught two scorpions there, but I let the other go like after a week,
When I went to Utah this summer, my grandpa and I went out and caught a scorpion and I am having a hard time identifying its species. Sadly I only got one photo of it before we let it go. Thanks in advance
It is Isometrus maculatus, they are a introduced species. There is a forested area just down the road from me with hundreds and hundreds. I went out with a black light and counted 64 on and around a single tree.
ok so I know this is probably relatively common but I just found it interesting. I was watching a scorpling which left its mothers back about 2.5 weeks ago, it was waking around then I saw it walk up to a new scorpion with babies that popped yesterday then I climbed on to its back and grabbed...
Almost every one I’ve asked have said that scorpions are illegal here in Hawaii to own, but when I look it up I can’t find anything stating that they are illegal or legal. So I was curious if any of you guys know something about this that I don’t.
Is it considered rare for scorpions to eat a meal together, like they are both eating the same cricket. I checked on my Isometrus maculatus “colony” and noticed two of them were both holding onto a cricket and were eating part of it.
My dad and I are thinking about selling wild caught Isometrus maculatus from Hawaii, but we were both wondering what are some good prices. I was thinking like $10 dollars for 1 then maybe $15 dollars for a pair. Do you think that’s reasonable? We were also wondering what we would have to do to...
