Just clarifying I have 12 other species of Tarantulas. I know when they are molting. This is the first T I ever had that was sick. Was hoping to nurse it back, but I know it was dead and not molting.
Sorry, I already disposed of it... I'm certain it was dead and not molting. I bought it at a reptile show and the seller only had 3 T's and about 50 lizards. All in sand. I knew it was a bad setup and even though the C. lividum looked unhealthy, I thought I could save it. It was very thin and...
I just bought my first C. lividum and noticed it's abdomen was really thin for its size. It was moving for the first day and I was going to rehouse it today and it's been on its front side in a death curl and sadly I'm certain it's dead. Also the enclosure it was in when it was sold was sand for...
One thing I have been doing is heavy misting one corner of the enclosure, making sure there is a puddle of water for the T to have access too. Usually it takes about a day for the water to completely dry up.
I have seen many people say a water dish is essential, but for the past 3 months none of my tarantulas have had or used their water dish. My bigger terrestrials have had a water dish, but because I mist every 2-3 days, they never used it and have been getting by without the use of a water dish...
Thanks guys! I just looked up that they can go weeks without breathing. They need very little oxygen. I check on them daily so I'm sure they will be fine. Thanks!
So I feel a few of my tarantulas have been stressed due to too much light in their current environment. I feel putting them in my closet is a good answer, but I'm afraid if I leave the door closed they may not get enough oxygen. It sounds stupid, I know, but what do you guys suppose?
I went to a reptile expo a couple days ago and met the CEO of Dreamco plastics and he has really nice acrylic enclosures for cheap. Also fpund a website called freund where I can buy plastic containers for slings cheap. I should be perfectly fine now.
I always call them by their scientific names, but when explaining to most people, they don't know what I'm talking about so I go by common names around them.
Sorry! I didn't mean to copy anyone. It was something I though while looking at my King Baboon. Honestly she's one of the tamest T's I have right now which surprises me being an OW.-
Definitely. I feel so bad that I got the slings before my enclosures. It was just one of those things like oooh I want this one and now I'm like oh I ran out of enclosures...
