    Help with Orb Weavers

I appreciate the response but I don't think you understand the magnitude of the problem. They've tried knocking webs down etc, and we are talking well over a thousand orb weavers. They've even powerwashed the buliding three times in the past month trying to help clear way the silk and egg sacks...

    Help with Orb Weavers

All: I never thought I'd post inquiring about how to get RID of spiders, but we've got a major problem at my wife's workplace. The exterior of the building is literally COVERED in Araneidae at night. In the summer, my wife works at a daycare that keeps late hours since school is out (she's a...

Another weird abdomen on a adult T. spinipes

Rob, you need to get ahold of Jayzen Boget at Preuss Pets in Lansing MI ASAP. Jayzun dealt with what looks to be an identical issue a few years back with a T. blondi. I can't remember the details, but he should be able to offer some quite valuable insight. -Ryan

How often should i clean enclosure

The only time I've ever completely changed substrate that wasn't due to a housing change was with my H. lividum. She molted, left the molt in her burrow, then left 3 or 4 boluses (boli?) down there with it. That aside some of my Ts are going on 2 years with the same substrate. If you're...

    which one to let go..

I would ditch the poo shooter (avic). The other two are awesome display Ts, are worth more, etc etc. Also harder to come by in adult sizes, so if your situation changes it'll be much easier to get another adult a. avic for a good price. The other two, not so much...

    OBT is arboreal or terrestrial?

My last OBT was a large female, and while she did show some arboreal tendancies, she decided to make herself an insane tunnel system as her permanent home. I'd catch her out on some corkbark now and then, but by and large she was a ground dweller. And, while they can do both, I think that...

    Really bad molt

I had a P. murinus that lost 3 legs and a pedipalp for no apparent reason in a molt. 2 molts later she was good as new. Changed her name from Usi to Tank.

    My pet tarantula escaped! Help!

well guessing at the short hand I'd say that the Pi is short for Psalmopoeus irminia, and then the Ga is some sort of Grammostola. A photo would help a ton. Both in general identification and in terms of helping you search for it.

    I think I scored BIG!

My wife started off when we were dating being creeped out by my Ts. Then she started to actually look at them and learn a little bit, and she became fascinated. Fast forward three years: We are married, and her wishlist is longer than mine! It's always great when the other half decides your...

    Bark chips????

IMO because there are other options that are safe and inexpensive, it simply is not worth the additional risk (situational or otherwise) to use bark chips. Coco Coir works beautifully, as does Peat Moss. You needn't worry about a fall with these substrates, as least not in terms of damage caused...

    Bark chips????

Many people have tried using it. It's no good due to it's abrasive nature. It can injure your T over time. That being said, there have been a ton of more in depth discussions about this, just try searching for them.;)

    Slowest grower in your collection.

As of right now, my G. rosea, Lurch. I've had him for almost three years now, he's molted 3 times in my care, and is only pushing 2.75". Great eater though. I'm not sure about the rest, as that I've just recently started rebuilding my collection. I had a P. regalis for 2 years that...

    Highly defensive T's

I had an S. calceatum that was wound like a top.... just walking by the enclosure was enough to illicit an all out fangs bared and dripping venom threat display. He was an angrly lil punk. Wound up shipping him out to mike for a breeding project, where he subsequently got munched. Guess he...

    Sling Disaster!

Not to be harsh, but totally your fault on the N. chromatus slings. Moving foward make sure that you keep the last two separate. As for the others, please give us as much detail as you possibly can. The more we know, the more we can help. ;)
