The Dark Den started with 9 slings, one sling died. He has a video from Jun 18, 2018 in which he rehoused 8 spiders in total, and then Oct 7, 2019 he rehoused them again, and he still had 8.
4 female, 4 male. Later he discovered one of the females was actually a male (discovered after it...
Yes of course. But I wanted to make a communal setup. The "no guarantee I'll have all 5" was primarily referring to the fact that some might due of XY causes, not necessarily due to cannibalism.
Hi, I was wondering if a ~30x20x20cm enclosure (18 lit = 4.75 gal) would work for 5 adult M.balfouri? I read somewhere that someone was keeping some in a 35x25x23cm (20 lit, 5 gal) enclosure. They're just slings at the moment, so obviously there's no guarantee I will have all 5 by the time...
Huh, I didn't know that would be a thing. So it's possible that the adults cannibalized on the nymphs if the setup got too dry, ergo the empty ooths? I kinda blamed the P.pruinosus I keep as cleanup crew, but it makes more sense this way.
I might try some other type of substrate then, I don't...
Hey everyone, so, I have had a small bin of lateralis roaches for a while and kept them with soil. It became dirty and problematic, but I knew that the ooths were hatching.
I later turned that bin into a bare-bottom bin, and noticed that the hatch-rate went down noticeably. Or at least I have...
Yep! I have been having an awful time finding out their sp haha. Tried everywhere so for now I gave them my own colloquial name until I discover what they are. They also appear to be much smaller than your usual a.vulgare but I cannot tell yet if they have fully matured
You might wanna try offering them more protein. Random deaths are a normal occurrence, but I would recommend buying some fish food or offering dead roaches or stuff like that as porcellios tend to crave protein more than the rest.
Hi! Another ID post, this time for some common millipedes found very easily in both Greece and Croatia. The first picture with the darker millies is the greek ones found in the outskirts of athens meanwhile the brown ones were found in the istrian peninsula of croatia, specifically in the city...
I know they are armadillidiums (from greece) but have no idea which specifically, they are also surrounded by a bunch of a.vulgares. They have been found in the outskirts of Athens, have no specific markings and are mostly this weird shiny light brown color. Thanks!
I've been trying to drip water onto the snout ever since I made the post, but there's no reaction at all.. I've been trying to mist the lizard's skin every now and then in hopes that it helps. Yesterday I saw it in the water dish, bathing? But it might've been accidental, as it roams the enclosure.
Hello everyone. I have returned from a 3 week trip to find my small wall lizard seemingly ill. I noticed an empty water dish, replenished it and misted the enclosure. The person babysitting my animals also did an awful job and threw mealies in rather than feeding them directly to the lizard, so...
Rather than 'forcing' hibernation, it was more of a thought that they would require less nutrients due to being much less active. I've read in some places that they had their toads survive for about two weeks without food or so. But if that's the case, I'll get someone to feed them, then. Don't...
Hello everyone. I am soon leaving my country for 3 week and I need some help. I have two Mediterranean geckos, two smaller frogs, a toad, salamander/newt and a young wall lizard. It is quite cold in my room currently. It is kind of hard for me to get someone to feed them, but I can find a person...
My friend cleans pools and ended up finding this guy in one of them. It appeared to be floating on the surface. It's around 5x2cm and very similar to superworm beetles. It also seemed to have excreted some sort of stinky liquid from its rear when I picked it up by the sides (trying to dry it up...
