Housing Suggestions for a 3 inch P. metallica

First 2 pics are my Curly with a solid lid and an air vent. The heat pad causes the water to condense to the cold glass and seep back to the substrate. The second 2 pics are my Brazillian Red and White. Her lid is meshed and her substrate is DRY. Its her enclosure i usually spritz a bit on one...

Housing Suggestions for a 3 inch P. metallica

Our lack of humidity during winter ie dry air, sucks the substrate dry in less than a day. Im talking desert dry. Which is why i replenish the moisture of the substate by spraying and letting the droplets wet the substrate. Or i allow the slow warmth of the heat pad set to one side of the cage...

Housing Suggestions for a 3 inch P. metallica

Call it the suppliers of our area stepping up to the post regarding our exotic pet keeping needs. The pads wont be necessary in summer. Hence the half theory....we make sure our little friends, including snakes have a warm and a cool side to go to depending on their needs and i see my T's using...

Housing Suggestions for a 3 inch P. metallica

We cant control heat in all our homes. South Africa is a third world country now. Most rooves on homes aren't insulated anymore....like mine. Using heaters is insane as the cost on the electricity bill (thanks to government corrupt run Eskom) would take a months salary. Our heat pads are...

Housing Suggestions for a 3 inch P. metallica

My tanks are supplied with about a 2cm layer of polystyrene under it. Its currently winter in Johannesburg and room temp is about 10'C. Not quite warm enough for a T. I spray the glass sides as i allow for the water droplets to then seep down into the substrate. Only half the tank is on a heat...

Superglue netting over the vents for now and try bath silicone to seal that gap. Think that could work?

Housing Suggestions for a 3 inch P. metallica

Here in South Africa we generally have totally different set ups. No "open" roof as that would cause enclosure to lose heat. Have to use under cage heat pads, light tank spraying for humidity etc. I.e we are in winter now. I have a heat pad under each of my T's, then my boa has 2 in house heat...

I think its time to move. She's gonna want a bit of floor space but obviously the chance to web up more.. being a pokie. Have u considered having one made up? One that fits her just right for maybe the next 3 sheds. Speaking of which, how often does she shed? That may help u decide. When my...

Critique Wanted of Brachypelma albopilosum/Curly hair enclosure

Curly's in my opinion, seldom climb. Give yourself enough height where u can add stuff like plastic plants from fishtanks, bit not so high that she'd injure herself if she does choose to climb. Curly's arent really arborreal they prefer the ground. And the occasional dig. Every now and then she...

    Enclosure placement?

Only thing i picked up that put my T's on edge was a complete change of scenery. We lived next to a freeway where the trucks would make our apartment block rumble. Then we moved into town into a quiet secluded garden cottage. Took my T's a while to adapt. They ALL didnt eat for about 3 weeks...
