I recently caught a large female wolf spider ( I could be wrong, she might be a grass spider), but I'm having trouble figuring out what specific species it is. Any help would be much appreciated. I live over in the mid-western US if that helps at all. She's approx. an inch in length.
Thanks for everyone's inputs, my gecko ended up pooping and I learned a few days later that he was getting ready to shed which explains why he hasn't been eating.
I was thinking that as well, but I checked all the temps and they seem fine. His warm side is around 91 degrees and his cool side is 70. The temps have been this way since I got him and he was doing fine before. My main concern is that mine is not pooping for whatever reason, and I will probably...
I’ve had my leopard gecko for about a month or two and he was doing very well. On Sunday morning I came back from a week long trip. I had left my Leo alone with enough mealworms and water to keep him fed (I had no one able to personally feed him or check up on him, otherwise I would’ve done that...
I've recently been wanting to start breeding and selling different praying mantises and maybe some jumping spiders, and I have a question. How do you guys deal with taking care of so many of the slings/babies that emerge? Is it hard keeping up with possibly hundreds of babies? Also, do you have...
I’m new to reptiles and recently got my leopard gecko. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me what morph he is? He is still a juvenile, and when the store sold him to me they didn’t have him under any particular morph. I really wanna say he is an sunglow albino, but I’m not sure.
Thanks for everyone’s replies! I changed out the carpet for regular paper towel for now and it seems to work well. My Leo’s basking area is now 90 degrees like it should be even with the paper towel over the area.
I do use a zilla thermometer controller and it does it’s job like it’s supposed to and regulates the mat temperatures. I was getting worried that it wasn’t making it warm enough but it is very accurate when I use the temp gun. So it’s really just a matter of changing out the substrate then. Do...
I use a zoo med heat mat for my glass enclosure for my leopard gecko. I’ve stuck it to the bottom, and placed the thermometer probe on the inside on the heat mat. As the substrate, I use reptile carpet, however I notice that the basking spot does not reach 90 degrees like it should. I use a zoo...
Im planning on getting my first reptile, a leopard gecko or crested gecko. I’m doing research and gathering everything I need, but I’m not sure what temp gun to get. I’ve heard the little zoo med infrared one you can get is not very accurate, so I would appreciate some suggestions! Preferably I...
Unfortunately I can’t get any red runners where I live, in Florida most roaches are illegal for whatever reason. I guess if they get loose they could reproduce and disrupt the ecosystem? In the end I went with wax worms and tried some of those.
Yeah I haven’t been using it at all. I’ll have to look up scents that could be okay, but in the end maybe I’ll just stop using it or move it to a different area like you said.
so I have a wax burner situated not too far from where I keep my insects. It normally smells up the whole room. It didn’t occur to me that I could potentially be irritating my insects with the smell! I really enjoy the wax burner, and I want to keep using it, but what scents would be okay to use...
Anybody have any suggestions for a feeder that is easy to feed without worrying about it burrowing? Dubia roaches are illegal where I'm from and I'm looking for something other than crickets.
