    New to Mantids

I live in AZ and get praying mantis in my house regularly and was thinking of keeping one. Both the males and usually females die after mating or get frozen here in the 4,500 ft altitude winters. However I know nothing about them except the keep flying in through my windows. Lucky me, huh...

    Catching Tarantulas in Phoenix?

I live in AZ also and I see MM A chalcodes all the time. You could say I catch and release. I only capture them to breed to my MF's. My non-t friends catch them for me thinking they are giving me a gift. I thank them and release them later on. My feeling on it is this. I only buy or keep...

    dying GBB ?

She definitely looks a lot better. Make sure in the summer/hot and dry temps all your T's have enough water to drink. Also, is that sand you have in there for her? Sand is a no-no for T's. Something soft and non abrasive works best. Looks like you have a good sized tank for her though...

    New Girl, New Sperm Web

I have a MM G rosea who has a MF right beside him to whom he has mated many times. About 6 months ago he stopped making sperm webs. That is until I was given another MF who is on the other side of his tank. Just recently he made a new sperm web, filled it up and off he went to visit the new...

Hentzi post molt, leg stuck around palp.

How did she lose the leg in the first place? I would have the same worry about it interfering with her eating. It's a tough call. I'd give it a gentle try and then wait a day or two to see if she takes care of it. Interesting it is the same leg she lost before.

    Molting Question/Concern! Please Help!

So sorry to hear about your A avic. This particular genus and species does not have the best track record. I'm sure her bad molt was nothing to do with you. I have heard similar stories often. My A avic molted a few days ago and came out with only 7 legs, one shorter than the other and one...

    OBT Slings Showing Colors

I love mine! Problem is, I'm getting attached to the ones I have left. :shame: All 70 of them!! I know I have to let them go but argh. Same with my 11 rattie babies. All the critters are just too darned cute!

    Gecko in Mid Molt

[, think that even putting any accidental eggs in an incubator might constitute "breeding" in the state's eyes. Believe me, I've thought about "accidentally" ending up with a male/female pair. Problem is, you can't keep more than two, and you can't sell/trade native animals. It's about...

    OBT Slings Showing Colors

This is one of my OBT slings. They are now 1.5 to 2 inches long at age 9 months. What a thrill to be a T mom of new babes. Some are giving threat displays but still run for the hills if challenged. Others are still able to be handled like this one.

    I'm a Temporary Opossum Mom!

Great work, Kitty. I was going to be getting my license here in Arizona but got busy and other things came up, you know the drill. Now however, you have re-inspired me! I am going to make calls tomorrow. The animals I save will have to give you partial credit! BTW, they are totally...

    Gecko in Mid Molt

My Arizona Banded Gecko was molting and I was fortunate enough to capture her on camera. Her colors are strikingly brilliant now. Her mate is seen in background. :? Sorry for the small pics but have downsized as much as possible and still they get rejected.
