    new pink toe enclosure

Not really, plenty of people live in cooler areas than Denver and they are not a "must have". As long as you are comfortable in the room the tarantula will be also, if you let the room get freezing cold then you shouldn't have any living animal in it.

My gbb has barely webbed.. is something wrong?

I am going to disagree with that, he was just trying to sell you an enclourse. That has too much height for my liking for a tarantula that small. I am assuming you are comparing it to the fully webbed out enclourses you see from them on people's YouTube channels, those have been in there quite...

Has the G. rosea finally fallen out of favor in the hobby?

The G. rosea has been replaced with avics and seemannis in the current market. It's just wherever they can legally export in mass that end up flooding the market with adults that take over as "popular" to new people to the hobby. Once the countries that the current export hot species place down...

That is real pretty girl. Glad you're back, was worried this was a random bump when I first started reading the thread.

Random pictures: (new phone so might have auto correct typos in names) Grammostola rosea female, my first tarantula. Probably my favorite because of that reason. Grammostola porteri. Lasiodora difficilis. This little fella is the most food hungry thing I've ever had, it is even currently...

    First hand conservation...

Removing large amounts of any animal from its natural area is never a good thing. If those were captive bred, which to my knowledge they were only described like January/February of this year (I may be wrong on that), they captured enough mature males and females to make that happen. Now I more...

    New A. Hentzi

That is from kicking hairs, if it is mature there's nothing you can do. When you look at the tarantula on the first two actual legs, there will be a hook about half way down, it can be harder to see since it's black just like the legs. From what I have seen, the pedipalps on these is smaller...

    New A. Hentzi

It will burrow, but with me leaning towards you having an adult male, it won't really dig at all. It's in the "gotta bang" mode and not the "settle down and make a home" mode so it will just do a lot of roaming. With it roaming a lot, you really won't want a mesh lid as those have resulted in...

    New A. Hentzi

Yeah, especially this time of year here (and you are not that far away so it is probably the same) you can find adult male Aphonopelma hentzi all over the place. Good news and bad news on it for you though. The good is that you have a very active wondering tarantula to see if you enjoy the...

    re-housing my Avic

Hot glue has always been my go to for adding branches or leaves to my cork bark, it cures a lot quicker over the 24 hours of the silicone. Add in a little substrate when the glue is still wet and it blends in the the bark pretty well. That or make sure to use aquarium safe silicone.

    New A. Hentzi

For feeding, they tend to be faster so I try to only feed mine a cricket every week or two as an adult. I have one on a 4/5 month fast right now which is pretty normal for them from what I have seen. No. Do not do this, all you will get is a nice home for bacteria. Since they like to burrow...

    New A. Hentzi

Your hentzi looks kind of like the mature males roaming around here this time of year did you find it yourself outside? I've noticed the females to have more grey legs than the blacker the mature males have. May be helpful to post a picture of the front end of the T if you are not sure. They...

I'd like some advice for picking my next T

You can never go wrong with a Nhandu chromatus, they are awesome T's. They grow at a good rate, get to a pretty nice size and are really pretty looking. I've only gotten a couple threat postures and one slap at the pipette from mine. I do like the Phormictopus as well but I would rather the...

Some random pictures. Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens. Just like the blue on the legs. Brachypelma vagans. This one has started to actually finally stay above ground and I have been able to view it the last couple days all day long. Grammostola rosea. This is actually my first ever...

SO WORRIED ABOUT MY GBB TARANTULA :(

Compare that to what the female can live and it is a "short life". You can get a male Grammostola or Aphonopelma that lives a "long" time from sling to ultimate but even when compared to the females it's still a short life.

SO WORRIED ABOUT MY GBB TARANTULA :(

The short life of males is why a lot of people prefer getting the females if they have the option. They live much longer than the males but don't let this discourage you from getting another as it is just a part of the life. If you happen to go the sling route and it becomes a male, once it...

Kinda Urgent... Tarantula acting out of character

Just a tarantula doing tarantula things then, not sure on the size of it but adult Aphonopelmas can easily go several months without eating. I currently have one on a five month refusal of food and it's still fat and happy.

Kinda Urgent... Tarantula acting out of character

If a tarantula is sealed away, leave it alone. They are not like people and can go a surprising long time without food, just keep water supplied, leave it alone and it will come out when it's ready possibly even molted. You also don't need that humidity gage, it's not a reptile.
