Thanks for the condolences! We've had two Ts pass away before, but both right after we purchased them. (A mature male, and a sling) It feels different to lose a T you've had this long. You've seen their personality and grown attached to them. It was also hard since I assumed from the get-go she...
Sadly, my initial suspicions were correct. She died today of old age. Thank you everyone for your help. My dad really enjoyed all the years he had her for.
It's damp because of the issues the past few days I've had with the water dish, such as the T walking in and out, and me removing it to clean it. I need to remove the top layer of soil surrounding the dish, which I'll do shortly.
And yeah, the cage is high. The T has never really climbed at all...
1. No heat mats or heaters nearby, and there's no furnace in my apartment. There's a lamp around 4 feet away, but it's been there for many years.
2. That's true, but he's used that dish for years, and I have a similar one for one of my Ts I've used for several years too. The water level goes...
My father's G. rosea is acting very bizarrely. For the past few days she's been very sluggish, often times with some of her legs curled under her. She's also been drinking an insane amount of water...the dish isn't large, but yesterday I had to refill it FIVE times, and most of those times were...
I purchased a golden huntsman and lynx spider from him. They were shipped out quickly and packed very well. This is my second order from him, and he does a great job of responding to questions and rectifying any problems. Highly recommended!
She's out a lot more now. I was afraid at first she'd be in her log most of the time. It's still a possibility, but she's been coming out a lot more which is really nice.
Most of the time, no. I have a ton of them where I live, and most of the time they're around half that big. I've seen some that are quite large, probably close to an inch, but I don't recall seeing one that big. Then again, it's been a while since I've seen one, (I haven't gotten out of the...
After nearly eight years of owning a G. rosea, Yoshi, I got a 2" or so female B. albo for $60. She's adorable and very sweet. She burrow deeper into her log, and constantly goes in and out of it. She's adjusted very quickly to the substrate. Yoshi would sit on the top of her log for a week or so...
I live in the US, Oregon to be specific. When I was a kid I loved collecting spiders, and remember seeing one that looked EXACTLY like a Redback spider. I tried catching it but it ran under a bush, which, while making me very disappointed back then, was definitely a good thing if it somehow was...
I posted here when I joined a couple years ago, but haven't posted for a long time so I thought I'd re-introduce myself.
I'm Jeff, and I've owned a G. rosea, Yoshi, for seven years. (I'm 19 now) She's only 4", and is the sweetest thing ever. She rarely ever goes into a threat posture, but...
My G. rosea made a burrow and occasionally goes in there. I also have a large log for her to hide in if she wants to, but she almost NEVER goes in there. It's a 10 gallon container, but the log is pretty big, and I was wondering if it'd be okay to remove it. There's no web around it, and with...
I never planned on getting a B. albo. I looked at pictures online and wasn't interested. But when I saw one at the pet store I mentioned, I fell in love with it. Even though it's not that colorful it's still a beautiful spider.
