Note for all keepers - DO NOT underestimate even your "calmest" spiders

The one enclosure I absolutely refuse to put my hands in for any reason is my G. rosea rcf's enclosure. The little dude is the boldest animal I've ever seen and will strike at anything.

    Red Runners On The Loose

Nope neither. I was about to go to bed and just saw a red scurry across my kitchen floor. He’s the first one I’ve seen since the event. Killed him but Oh boy, here come the chills. The good news is that my kitchen is loaded with roach baits. I know they’re effective because they’ve almost...

    Red Runners On The Loose

Yeah my research has pretty much led me to the conclusion that I'm probably okay, but having temps already in the mid 80's outside still kind of has me feeling ehh. I know for sure that if I had a gravid female loose I'd be much, much more worried. And oh my God, anybody that uses Germans as...

    Red Runners On The Loose

I know, right?! Like I’m kind of shocked. If I lost a T I’d be tearing walls down looking for it.

    Red Runners On The Loose

Alabama is very humid and we’re already in the 80’s outside, however my apartment is very dry since I’ve always got the AC running this time of year. My apt year round is kept at roughly 68 F. I used bait to get rid of Germans that were living in my kitchen and will probably place some more...

    Red Runners On The Loose

’m from Alabama and live in a fairly old apartment building. I’ve just recovered from a massive German infestation so my apartment is just about spotless and everything is caulked up. About a third ran underneath my couch and although I searched every inch I could of it I couldn’t find a single...

    Red Runners On The Loose

I'm checking and flipping everything. The little buggers. I'm searching through my sofa, through my recliner, under tables, everywhere. All lights on, I'm not sleeping until I'm pretty sure I've cupped as many as I can cup. I was having such great feedings too.:mad: Luckily, because I was...

    Red Runners On The Loose

Welp, I’m actually <edit>. Was feeding my T’s when BAM, accidentally knocked over my cup of at least 30 reds. I think they’re all confined to my living room and I’m currently tearing the whole place apart. I’ve got at least 20 cupped and will deep clean my living room before I put everything...

    Michael's Keeping Log

Because really I needed to rekindle the fire that I had when I first started keeping. I started losing interest after I lost 4 slings (2 versi's and 2 OBT's) in a row and therefore the maintenance of my T's dwindled significantly. My male T. albo was on his same sub for around 2 and a half...

    Michael's Keeping Log

Thought I'd start maintaining a keeping log for some husbandry notes for newcomers as well as myself. Saturday, April 11, 2020: The list of species as of right now includes: 1.1.0 T. albopilosum 0.0.1 P. sazimai 0.0.1 G. pulchripes 0.0.1 G. sp maule 0.0.1 G. rosea rcf 0.1.0 A. anax 0.1.0 A...

    Beginner T's?

I've got a male and a female T. albo and a G. pulchripes juvenile. Holy Hell is this pulchripes taking long to grow though. The T. albo will grow slow as well. LP's are ravage eaters and grow faster than Brachy's, ex-Brachy's, and Grammostola's without being too much different, if any different...

    Tarantulas and Plastic Enclosures

Hey everyone, So I recently rehoused two of my very small (.5"-.75") versicolor slings into these 17 oz. plastic containers. The setups are nice: fake leaves hot-glued to the base of the container with about 2 inches of sub and 3 holes of ventilation around the entire upper portion of the...

    Introduce Yourself

That's awesome. I'm not gonna lie I'm looking at places in Prattville so I can just drive in to work every morning like you. Even if we never end up meeting I'm still stoked to know there are other keepers around me. I need friends to share the hobby with

    Your 2019 Tarantula Wishlist?

I absolutely love my Avic. I'm hoping to get some more slings sometime soon, however I really want to keep some Psalmopoeus species as I believe they might get me ready for some OW's. I'm terribly sorry for your loss! It makes me ever more grateful for this forum because we actually understand...

    Your 2019 Tarantula Wishlist?

For whatever reasons Pokies don't seem to do it for me. And what NW arboreals do you want? Ah yes C. elegans are gorgeous. And why not just keep your other pets away from the T's? This is the correct answer. I want ALL of em.

    Introduce Yourself

Hi I'm Michael from Alabama, U.S. I've been keeping for about a year now. I currently have 6 T's and am soon to move into a new place once I start my career here in a couple of weeks as an actuary. Besides T's, I hope to one day also keep scorpions and other exotic animals outside of invertebrates.
