Greetings. I feed some of my slings sliced meal worms, and a a lot of them seem to greatly appreciate it. I find it much easier with arboreal species like C.Versicolor, where the live prey would often fall down to the bottom and stay there for days. All my Brachys seem to really like it this way...
Turns out she molted, I found her molt out of the burrow yesterday morning, but I have yet to see her and her new size. I also don't even know if the molt is recent or no, maybe she just took the old molt out... This spider is quite challenging for me as it really acts different than most of my...
Ok thank you! It's my first time with a tarantula that is basically always hidden.People say "great feeding response" but I guess she will need to put on some size first before I can witness that.
I have gotten my first P. Irminia about 6 weeks ago. She is about .75 inch, and she immediately built a burrow and web funnel at the bottom of her arboreal enclosure. I've seen her scavenge some mealworm parts in the beginning but not anymore (maybe she's in pre molt).
However, if she stays...
Thank you. Yeah I guess I did not see it on my order but I rechecked and got a 1.25 inch one. It was super cheap though!
It could have just molted, there was 2 molts in the bowl when I got him, but it's already eating like a pig. Good idea, I'll wait until premolt and rehouse him when he stops...
Greetings to you all, it's been a while since I have posted here. Some of you may have read my post on reddit, but I'll recap for those who didn't. I came to the hobby back in 2018 and as much as I liked it, I didn't have the best experience partly because my husbandry was not really as good as...
Sorry, maybe a bit late on the topic here, but I was looking for this info and found this thread, and I just noticed it is fairly recent, so might as well chime in.
My b.Albicept was bought as 0.25" in may 2018, and it is now a 0.5". We do have really cold winter in Canada, but I put the heat...
Hi! Me again! I got this beauty of not even one inch back in april and it is now at a solid 3 inch. I suspect a male, but I'm not yet good enough. What do you think?
Here is a previous molt I found. Hope it's good enough. I almost sweat I could see some flaps when looking at it personally, but I'm too inexperienced still :(
My first time posting here. Please let me know what I can do better next time to provide the best possible quality. I'll definitely shoot with my Canon DSLR next time, but I did adjust the contrast and sharpness the best I could.
Also, how many of these am I allowed to upload? I have 10 unsexed!
Thanks! So she was probably always this way then. While it doesn't help me estimate her age, at least it tells for sure that I can't judge it by this behavior. That also means I can hope she is closer to 15 and can have multiple years left in her company :)
I have a question about older tarantulas.
I have an adult female B.hamorii of unknown age. This is my first adult T. The previous owner (which seems knowledgeable about T and had more than 30) got it 4 years ago, and she was already an adult. He suspects that she is probably more than 12 years...
Thanks cold blood!
I meant she attempted to bite the brush! It was clearly a bite strike...
The gloves are not meant to protect against a bite, but mostly against the hair. They also somehow make me more confident. They probably do hinder my dexterity a little, but not wearing them would...
