On that note, does anyone have any advice for someone who might have to be hospitalized? In my case, I live alone. I've been thinking about what would happen to my hamorii if I ended up in the hospital. I know a few people who would be up for coming by to give her water, but I don't know how...
I was very excited to get a GBB a while back. From the first moment I saw a pic of the species, I was dying to have one and after reading up on them quite a bit I finally pulled the trigger. But a few months she arrived (a juvenile I think - her adult coloring hadn't come in yet) she died. :(...
Hmm, that is good to know. She is charging slightly more than the breeders do for verified females of the same species, though. I guess maybe that's what gets me; if you're going to charge female prices shouldn't you be sure that it's a female? I guess it's up to the consumer to stay informed.
I just have to complain...
Tonight while I was buying crickets at my local pet shop I saw that they have a 3"-4" Honduran Curly Hair (well, so they say :p) for pretty comparable to what you could get here in Canada from a breeder online. I've never bought from a pet shop before, and I know they...
After my hamorii molted she became a savage beast. I don't know if Ts can physically jump, but I swear I saw her leap into the air after a cricket that jumped onto the side of her enclosure. She hit the wall, grabbed the cricket, tumbled onto her back, and I got to see her fangs sink into the...
Like everyone has said, I wouldn't handle a T. Maybe a lizard would be better if you want to hold it? I'd suggest a bearded dragon or an iguana if they're legal in your area. My iguana used to love riding around on my shoulder.
Checked on my Ts this morning, found an exuvium in my GBB's enclosure! It was a relief, because she'd been in premolt for about three months. I hope she gets huge!
Thanks for all the tips everyone!
I got some pics of the setup here. She did eat a cricket yesterday, but this is only the second one she's eaten in two months. If it's not premolt I'm kind of confused, because all I'd heard about GBBs beforehand is that they're voracious eaters and they web a...
Have you guys ever seen your Ts eat during premolt? I got my GBB at the beginning of June. She refused food for about three weeks, then ate one cricket. After that, she hasn't eaten again. I tried to feed her again today and she did strike at the cricket I gave her, but it didn't seem like she...
Welcome to the hobby! B. hamorii (smithi) is one of my favorites! (well, I'm pretty new, too, though!) C. lividum...haha, wow! Glad to hear it's going well! You've given me some courage, that's for sure. :)
My last order was similar - not a sling, so not the exact same situation, but I ordered a 2.5" and she is definitely closer to 1.5". And she was expensive! My order before that was similar. I'm starting to get the feeling that the unspoken rule with breeders is "this is the size, give or take...
