Got a nice surprise this morning..

About mid November I had purchased my first scorpion from LLL reptile (a single pandinus imperator) and she's been refusing food lately. Just thought it might be pre-molt things and thats why she looked pretty plump too. ...nope ! checked on her hole this morning and saw this sight...

    Isopods are good moms!

I'd never realized/seen this before so thought I would share. It was a cute surprise for me  About ~2 months ago I introduced my first "fancy" isopod species to one of my vivariums (P.Ornatus high yellow)... well today I was checking up on things and noticed one of the isopods hanging...

I’m new. Question for desert beetles.

heat lamp helps to give them night/day cycle temps and will make them a bit more active. Eco earth mixed in is just to give the sand a bit of substance so they can burrow in it (they love to do so).... also just throwing this out there, zoo med sells excavator clay which is super fun to craft...

Insects that can be kept with millipedes?

They are very easy to care for and generally like the same environment as millipedes (humid+room temps). You just need feeders for them... here's a care sheet if you want to read more

Insects that can be kept with millipedes?

A cool mantis species you can keep with them is Ghost mantis. You can keep them communally and have a whole herd of ghosts in with them. They're a "shy" species of mantid so they don't bother the millipedes (especially if you keep them well fed)- I've done this before. Just make sure you have...

    Unconventional millipede foods

I feed mine some of that Pangea gecko food dry fruit mix you can whip up with some water. It has a few mixed fruits and is supplemented with calcium and they seem to really love it. Plus it is super easy to have long term as you can keep the bag in the fridge and it basically lasts forever.

Couple enclosure questions for long-time millipede keepers

thank you, that is helpful! What I had in mind was to make a more of a piece of eye-candy vivarium type tank to display the pedes in so unfortunately the two-tub transfer method wouldn't work for that as it would be a "permanent" enclosure... Has anyone ever tried "topical" feeding methods...

Couple enclosure questions for long-time millipede keepers

Hi all, I've been steadily growing my millipede collection for that past couple months and am up to about a dozen various of the larger species. I have some questions regarding long term enclosures, sustainability and maintenance on said enclosures. Right now my pedes are babies and are chilling...

Review by 'rantology' on item 'Elytra and Antenna'

I purchased a few millipedes from Elytra and Antenna on Feb 2 but unfortunately had some horrible weather for a few weeks so it was not safe to ship the animals. They were incredibly nice and willing to hold the 'pedes until temps were up to safe levels to ship. Excellent communication during...

    Giant Spanish Isopods have Offspring!

Amazing! Thank you for posting this, seeing a proper setup for giant spanish isopods is super informative. I dream about setting up a colony of P.Bolivari from captiveisopoda someday and hope they will breed like yours! How often do you mist their enclosure and what's the RH in there? They are...
