I don't name all of mine (there are too many) but of the ones that are named:
Bitey mc<rudeword>hole: She's an hmac, no points for guessing how she got her name.
Balbo: Someone saw me tag my b. albo that on instagram and thought it was his name...well it is now
Rosa: Rose hair
Nope: A...
Actually met this guy on craiglist before realizing we were both on arachnoboards. Quick transaction, good communication, didn't flake on me which is a bonus, and was able to meet up that night. Excellent healthy T.
Thanks guys. For some reason I thought I read somewhere that they molt like, super often. They're all plump and eating well so I'll stop worrying for now :)
Hi there! I've had some 1/2 inch slings of various species for maybe three weeks now and none have molted. I know this differs by species, but I have a few fast growers in there--particularly two pokies, an m balfouri, and two LPs.
No one has molted. How frequently do spiders this age molt? Is...
Or rather, my husband bought him for me as a 'paid off my student loans' present. Well Palp Friction sent me an M Balfouri as a freebie, which is also on my 'really want one' list.
It's been a good day so far!
How's everyone else doing?
I did buy another dehumidifier that doesn't lower the temps in the room, simply because I don't want everything down here to get moldy, and if I don't keep on top of it the room can start to smell kind of musty (I also have cats down here). Thanks guys.
Well it's been pretty rainy here and the humidity in my T room is anywhere from high 60s to low 80s. I've been running a dehumidifier but it only does so much, and also lowers the temps in the room significantly, which isn't great for getting my fragile second-instar slings to grow.
The only...
Wow, do you need to be snippy and awful to this person? People research and wind up getting wrong information. Where do you suppose people end up when they do research?
This substrate looks really wet, and not near deep enough. I keep my OBT in dry coconut coir at least 6 inches deep, and it's just a baby. It's possible it just didn't do well in those conditions, or that it had some molting trouble.
The weird thing about this to me is the species selected.
P Ornata is arguably not endangered, though its range is under threat, as is the range of every other organism in that region. It's listed, yet P Metallica--which has less than 100 wild members left--is not. Several other very critically...
Bait traps with imidacloprid should be safe for you to use. The stuff can't even kill arachnids so far as studies are aware, it's not even effective against ticks. You may be able to get your roommates to compromise with that for a low-risk option.
I had to have Termidor sprayed in my barn for...
My P Audax laid a sac and now I have like 20 babies, which is too many babies, and I can't decide what to do with them all. Do I release them? Give them away (who would even take them anyway)? Sell them?
My A Seemanii is literally satan. I hate that spider and working with her. No one else gives me more grief.
Ugh, I own both horses and Ts. I shower between the barn and my T room because I'm constantly worried about pesticide exposure.
My second T was a pokie. Tbh she doesn't give me any trouble. I know they're not really an intermediate T, but if you can get a larger less nasty one there's no reason you can't be successful with them.
Hey all! Sorry, threw my back out and lost track of this thread. She molted yesterday, her abdomen is pretty small and pathetic-looking now but she's probably just fine. I'll offer her a roach later today, if she eats it she eats it otherwise oh well, she should be just fine.
My coworker did...
