Give it a deep moist substrate. For an adult around 10 inches, and preferably insert a corcbarktube or rounded corkbark deep in the substrate. If they have a deep retreat they are retreating into this when you open up the cage and are much more calm and secure

1,5 inch A chalcodes can be kept on dry sub. Your moldproblem disspears. How is it possible to get mold from overflowing a waterdish in an exoterra?. But mold is not harmful, just pick it away.
I know that cocofibre is sterile so it is much easier to get mold in this substrate than if it is soil

After 8 month my P auratus juvenile is moulting. It has been in premoult for 3 month. Funny thing is, 5 month or so it lost its bronze sheen on the carapace. I guess due to ut wear off when digging? But i have seldom, if ever seen this on a juvenile before?
