    Tarantula ICU

I wanted to do an update on this thread as i have been away for a bit.... The sling mentioned in my previous comments is the sling involved in the situation that sparked my wanting to create the thread. The sling is in great condition now and jist molted last week. Accepted its first post-molt...

    Tarantula ICU

This sounds like a good tactic, similar to what i had thought of. Have you tried this with small slings? What did you use as a waterbowl? Do you find that bringing the humidity up in the enclosure makes a difference as well or is it mainly getting the T to an actual water sourse and seeing that...

What species/type/group of tarantulas are you into?

Im definitely a fan of OW arboreals. For a long time my collection consisted of mainly arboreals and about half of them OW. Recently I have become interested in the OW fossorial/terrestrial Ts which have such an attitude (when you get to see them). Another favorite of mine, which i find...

What type of tarantula would you be?

I would have to say I would most likely be one of the Chilobrachys species, preferably the sp kaeng krachan! I have always loved the thought of living in the forests of Asia and I like to take months at a time recharging in my "burrow" people always ask why they havent seen me around or where i...

    Tarantula ICU

Thank you for the info Nightstalker! At what time do you feel it to be proper ro introduce the spider back into its original enclosure?

    Tarantula ICU

In reality, my oen reaction to the question is a mixed one. Like you said i feel an ICU is only last resort for me. I personally have seen a tarantula sling go from death curl and presumably dead, to being able to crawl the walls of the icu and support its own weight overnight. Said tarantula is...

    Tarantula ICU

Im just curious as to what your guy's opinion is on putting a tarantula in an ICU (when done correctly) versus attempting to rehydrate a tarantula in its enclosure.

Yeah from everything ive read it is alot better to do it that way. Which makes sense to me also because if there are live prey then there could be a dispute over food (which is probably unlikely) but it is less likely if the prey is prekilled and left for them to find and gather on their own.

    Plant identification

I actually was thinking that number 3 could possibly be some type of bamboo. It has several stalks coming from its base in the dirt. And the stalks look like bamboo just smaller. Im no expert though. Coleus seems to be the correct identification for number 4. Number one is indeed wandering jew...

    Plant identification

Thank you!!! I was most curious as to find out what the third and the fourth one were I will have to do some research on what you said that you thought they might possibly be. My main concern is putting any of these plants and with one of my tarantulas and then proving to be harmful for the...

    Plant identification

Along with this thread i am posting a few pictures of some plants that i recently acquired. I am pretty confident that one of them is a wandering jew, however the other three i am not so sure of. While i love botany and plant life in itself i also love to provide me inverts and other pets with...

    The common "mold/fungus" question

Not cynical at all, I want to learn as much as possible..... So what you are saying is that while i want to simulate the natural habitat of each specimen, it is not truly their natural habitat, only a containment, so the process of eleminating any waste, debri, or unwanted orginasms wont be as...
