Moving up the rungs, what should I get next?

I attempted an incei communal. 4 spiders separated out of the original 10, and it was very difficult to control water availability. At least 1 sling passed due to dehydration, and then I had problems from too much water available. I saw one get eaten, even though I glutton fed the tank 2x a...

Moving up the rungs, what should I get next?

Get an OBT. Then decide if you want it to be arboreal, and you have a decent expectation for an upset H Mac. If anything, an OBT would be my recommendation for a first OW species if you are looking into advanced baboons already.

    Any New Additions?

Recently picked up 1.1 versicolor adults. Currently waiting on my first sac. Been almost a month since pairing and she’s looking plump.

    Tapinauchenius husbandry tips?

    L. Violaceopes seem to do best at about 60% humidity ime, not quite moist but a good dampening here and there. Isopods will help with mold as well.

    Here comes a debate

As an owner of both enclosures, I’d say return the spiderling kit and get another juvie kit. The lid on the sling kit is a PITA to open and you will 100% disturb whatever goes in there every time you open it.

Housing Hacks! Clever tricks you've learnt for making enclosures

So I made my first tank the other day. If you’ve never used acrylic sealant, it can not stitch two pieces together on a horizontal plane very well. It can get very messy very quickly if your technique leaves much to be desired. A soldering iron is 10x faster to cut plastic sheets with than the...

    Rare/uncommon species

I’d like to see an updated list from people. Over the years past, have you collected more uncommon species?

How not to rehouse a spider

I think I’m going to have to do all of my rehouses topless from now on. I believe in my ability to coax a T off skin, but taking a shirt off with a spider INSIDE w/o terribly spooking it? I commend you for that feat.

    Personal most challenging rehouses

I rehoused a B. Vagans sling today that gave me hell. I was moving it from a deli cup into one of Jamie’s spiderling enclosures, and it wanted to run around that deli cup like a hamster wheel whilst burrowing. It probably made at least six rotations before I got it into the new housing. I could...

    Favorite aspects of the hobby

I have to say I enjoy creating habitats the most, and look forward to fabricating my own enclosures.

    Favorite aspects of the hobby

I’m curious as to the different perspectives of this community. Do you enjoy the husbandry most? Building enclosures? Or perhaps breeding your favorite species to share with the world is more your style. In keeping tarantulas, what are you most passionate about?

    A. Metallica sling feeding

My first arboreal, and I have a question. Do these guys typically fling themselves from the lid of their enclosure, on top of their prey? Or did I just happen to witness greatness in action?

    Raising Spiderlings

It will be harder to find the sling whenever you have to do maintenance, and the ventilation holes might be big enough for an escape depending on the size you have. It also gives prey items more room to roam and makes feeding longer or more stressful to find uneaten prey to remove.

Jumped into the deep end with OW

I was prepared for more harsh criticism, and am pleasantly surprised by the subtleness of an eulogy. 10/10 for that added flare. The dark dens method is greatly appreciated as well, much easier than having a stand-off Wild West style with a sling in a condiment container. I’m probably going to...

Jumped into the deep end with OW

Hey guys, I've owned several species of docile NW terrestrial t's (minus the occasional crazy rose) over the course of 15 years. I made the jump to OW with an OBT. I am moderately cautious, appreciate a new challenge, and would like to jump to an arboreal species eventually. I won’t hide it...
