It is unfortunate that any theriphosidae is endangered. Thrigmopeous truculentes was one of my first spiders, VERY awesome. I know there are a few old timers in here who still have these. PLEASE breed if you can............I know there are limited specimens.
Pretty girl. I just caught a mature female A. hentzi at work a couple of weeks ago. I usually only find males wandering but she was waiting at the front door for me.
I know I have two adult females and a wee sling that has yet to molt in my care after many months. I need a mature male if anyone knows where to find one, I have a feeling it might be. I have not had much luck finding one.
There are more species available than just hissers. BugsinCyberspace.com and roachcrossing.com have many different species to choose from and this time of year shipping is only about $8.00 to $12.00 depending on the vendor for 2-3 day priority.
I have three adults. One died, one is a female that just molted, and I need to check the other one which I am pretty sure it is a female also due to its size and no hooks. I also have a very small sling that has not molted in the three months that I have had it. I have a feeling I am going to...
When I first started keeping T's about nine years ago I kept almost NW exclusively. I got very bored with NW. I keep OW almost exclusively now except for a few classic NW. OW!!!!!!!!!!!
My temps. during the day in summer can reach 95+ in my invert/laundry room. That room is not air conditioned. I dont have any problems, I just make sure they always have access to water.
New Mexico is pretty lax on their laws. You can ask if you are curious though. I dont know of any restrictions as long as they are not protected species which as far as inverts go there are very few here.
I have noticed this with my colony. I dont know if the adult males are dying off because of shorter lifespans than the females or what. In the spring and summer months when it warms up they have always recovered when large nymphs molt into mature males IME.
I am in awe of the size of that pede. Was it wild caught? I may not be the only one, but it seems to me that wild caught inverts have the potential to get quite bigger than captive bred.
