I've also got a defensive B. albo.
Its never affected anything since I don't try to handle it, but it has definitely surprised me from time to time during enclosure maintenance or watering.
This morning I was using my syringe to water all the little slings. A lot of them have little holes over the water dish so I don't have to open the enclosure to do this.
When I started filling the GBB's water dish, it made a mad dash over to attack the water stream. I kept filling. It kept...
I started a dubia colony to feed the bearded dragon last year. Its also one of the main reasons I decided to keep tarantulas - hey, I already have feeders and some T's won't even make a dent.
Turns out, feeding dubia to Ts is a royal pain and none of my other reptiles like to eat them either...
I'm in the same boat now with a freebie A. chalcodes. Also the first time I've used a deli cup longer term.
I've always avoided tiny slings because I have a hard time finding small prey items around here, but thanks to the good folk here learning me up about cutting up worms and such he's doing...
Last week at NARBC in Arlington there was a dude selling slings for crazy low prices. I got six of them. LP, an N. incei, A. geniculata, B. cobocla, N. chromatus, and a freebe. A. chalcodes. The most expensive one was $18.
I also got a 3.5" unsexed A. seemanni for $15, and a fairly large Damon...
Nah, I opened the lid to make sure his feet weren't wedged in there, and his back feet aren't even touching the air holes. He's just on smooth plastic.
Maybe he's trying to be like this guy:
The climbing bit doesn't really have me puzzled, its the fact that a usually very flighty T suddenly can't be spooked. It's usually very fast, and very skittish.
He struck a fancy pose and won't be moved, even when I poked at him a bit. I think maybe it looked into Medusa's eyes.
My I. mira is doing something very strange right now. Last I saw it a few days ago, it was doing normal I. mira stuff. Bolting in and out of its trap door and such. Today I see it doing this:
The strange part is, it won't budge. I moved the enclosure. I tapped on it a little bit. I even...
Nice wolf spider. I've found them here in Texas bigger than some tarantulas.
I'm pretty sure there are bunch of different species, though, and I can't narrow it down any further than that. :p Maybe its a Lycosa tarantula?

This showed up in my news feed today, and I thought it was interesting enough to share. Even if only for the pictures.
I've got about 22 Ts right now, I think, and they're pretty well varied. I think I'm pretty much sated for the time being. When I look at the vendor lists these days I rarely see anything that grabs me.
The only ones I think about buying with any frequency now are the X. immanis and the G...
