    Poecilotheria subfusca discussion

A wonderful species indeed. Here are some pics of my AF Ll (~6.5") and AF Hl (~5.5"). Ages unknown.

    Poecilotheria subfusca Care Help

I recently moved my AF ~7" lowland subfusca from a 12×12×18" enclosure to an 8x8x12". Both enclosures contain what I consider to be more than enough hiding places and ground cover. I moved her because she hardly ever used even half the space of the larger enclosure at night. She's doing great...

    P. irminia question

I hope you're right about them usually getting bolder as they get bigger. I remember a regular on here saying that they had observed the opposite, in that they become less visible as they mature. Don't know whether that was based on one or more examples. I have a ~4" female that's almost always...

    Your favorite feeders?

Apparently we can't get hornworms in the UK. How about dubia - do they make a mess too?

Good Size Enclosure for Adult Poecilotheria

I wouldn't go smaller than an exo terra mini tall for larger pokies.

How much do you care about enclosures, with regards to aesthetics?

Aesthetics are important to me. These enclosures are usually illuminated in red during the day. The decorative plants are native to the regions of the inhabitants.

    Your favorite feeders?

B.lateralis and mealworms here. Used to use locust but they take too much looking after and make a mess when the T takes them down. I can't be doing with bug guts all over the enclosures. The mealworms are fed to my larger Ts in a plastic dish with a guinea pig pellet or two to attract...

    Made My First Big Mistake

I accidentally flipped a box of red runners in my house on Xmas Eve. My biggest blunder yet.

    Lighting

All of my enclosures are illuminated by interconnected led strips. Any colour is selectable at the click of a button. Red is the default during the day with all lighting off at night. Dark orange shows off most T's really nicely when visitors drop round.

    Can a tarantula become attached

Sorry for your loss. Don't read too much into the responses to this and other such questions. Nobody really knows.

    What’s your favourite pokie?

Here's my subfusca LL just chillin in her exo terra palace. She's my favourite pokie at the mo.

How’s your 50% chance luck turns out so far?

I now have 9 out of 10 of the T's that I set out to get when I entered the hobby. 4 of these were sexed juvi females when I bought them. The other 5 were unsexed and have all turned out to be female. This includes 1 unsexed juvi from TSS (and 1 spiderling). I wanted females so I've been lucky...

    Ruptured abdomen! Help?

Does anyone know of any other instances of terrestrial tarantulas climbing, falling and badly injuring themselves within their enclosures? I've searched for a variety of key words on this and other forums but haven't found any. There's a good number of reports of ruptured abdomens and other...

    Is this big enough

I keep slings in Ferrero Rocher boxes of different sizes. These get polished down with 3 grades of compound before being cleaned and drilled. A bit over the top praps but they look stunning when done. My larger enclosures have red led lights installed and the next project is to add these to the...

    Is this big enough

The strangest thing about this hobby, in my opinion, is that people keep their Ts in opaque containers, and then can't see them properly.

    Dying? Hibernating? Pre molt?

I've found that excessive feeding seems to encourage long periods of hiding, at least in some species.
