I had a fossorial T that burrowed the second day after purchase, then one week later resurfaced and stayed unburrowed for 6 months then burrowed again. As long as it is eating fine, it should be ok.
You would at least need a cork bark tube as a hide in there to begin with. Most Ts avoid light, tbh at the current state of enclosure, it is not suitable for any T.
I would suggest you sell the T asap, in the mean time look up beginner aboreal species and enclosures and adjust the enclosure...
They don't want to climb. When you rehouse them, they are forced to search for new a spot for hiding, and they end up climbing.
Semi-arboreal is a dangerous term. Despite GBB has some tendency to web slightly off the ground, that does not negate fall damage.
They die to all kinds of stupid...
If it is drinking water, then it may be dehydration and not sucking stomach issue. IME, sub-adult and adult gbbs are not the best eater and often takes a long time (one to two months) to eat again after molt. Sometimes having a water dish is not enough when spiders can't access it conveniently...
Can't tell where the 'wet' area is. Seem it kicked lots of hairs and may be molting soon. T. stirmi tend to cover their hide and nearby area with hairs especially before molting.
My female produced a sac earlier this year with 400+ eggs. In the end, I had more than 300 2nd instar slings.
Paired Nov 2018 and Mar 2019. Sac produced June 2019.
I left it with Mom. For this species I recommend pulling after 40 days. I pulled mine after 30 days and didn't see EWLs. They...
Check for tibial hooks or emboli to confirm its mature. Matures males can live about 1 year.
Skin colored bald spots just mean it kicked hairs, and has nothing to do with spiders health or premolt.
1. They sit in the open until premolt generally.
2. They like some moisture compared to other Brachys, but can tolerate dry subs. Moisten the substrate a bit if they sit on water dish too often.
3. Do you secretly hate your friend? Do you want your friend to get haired in the face?
Looks like wood and not cork bark.
If it is cork bark, then it's fine. Other options includes plastic cups or pots that is split in the middle so the T can burrow.
