So somehow these tiny little 1mm skinny critters found their way into my bin. I believe they are either Psocids or booklice since they seem attracted to the cardboard egg crates rather than the roaches or the food. They dart around in short half inch bursts and are anything from pinkish to grey...
They seem to lack any identifiable pattern or marking, have dark, reddish brown bodies with darker brown abdomen that has a silver fuzz on it. The underside of their fangs/mouth are a lighter red.
Congrats! Vinegaroon breeding is something im looking into as well, theres many here in california, the same species as well, but theyre out in 29 palms/desert area. Did you keep their cage moist/humid throughout the entire process of breeding->birth?
I too kill them whenever i see them. Despite being a spider lover, these things are all over the place in california and my area has a particularly bad infestation of them. Maybe if i release enough p. audax into the area, they'll help thin out the darn things. xD
Good on him and the spider, but when i see this i wanna pull my hair out and yell "WHY DON'T YOU HAVE NEEDLE NOSE TWEEZERS!?!?" It'd be so much quicker XD.
You'll probably need to trash the colony and start a new one if it bugs you. On the bright side, it doesnt look like they'll out-breed the fruit flies. Their females lay around 200-300 eggs throughout their lifespan, where as flightless fruit flies are around 500. (may be wrong, based on weak...
Im not sure how to go about keeping silverfish as pets, but god forbid if they ever escape their enclosure XD; My house has a silverfish infestation and even after tenting the house, theyre still lurking about. They do seem to like glue or glue-like substances. A cut up piece of flooring carpet...
Yeah I figured the quality is too poor, unfortunately that is the quality zoomed in all the way for my lame phone.
Here is another hopefully a little better. Knowing my luck it's probably just a grass spider.
Anyone mind helping me ID it? I'm not sure if it's a male k. Hibernalis or recluse. It's about 1cm in size with legs.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the photo quality, pic taken via potato.
poor guy Dx (or girl as the case might be). As far as funny stuff goes though, this morning my pet p. audax, Charlotte, was sitting in her little web home. I give her water through a syringe typically, so like any other morning i place a drop of water right at the entrance of her web home where...
There's no real way we'd be able to identify the cause really. It sounds like you have several potential sources that could cause the problem, or it may be a combination of many things. Unless you're able to do a test and eliminate all potential exposure to each possible source, i'm not sure...
Its impossible for me to tell from that angle, you'll need to give a photo of its pedipalps. :) (pedipalps being those tiny little appendages just outside their mouth) Would be best if it was a photo of them outstretched rather than curled up.
If its a male, they'll have swollen bulbs at their...
Looks like a Plexippus Petersi. Also looks to be Male, so, she's a MAN, man!!!
Not sure if the snails will do any good with cleanup to be honest (they do leave slime everywhere after all, and land snails are known to harbor bacteria on their bodies. Whether that proves harmful to spider health...
