it's unfortunate, but being the way humanity is, they view the lives of invertebrates as expendable since there is "so many of them". Also it doesn't help that most of the population are arachnophobes or terrified/hate insects or bugs all together.
PS - Although i view it wrong, and...
Unfortunately I have to leave the hobby, for how long I'm not sure. My parents are forcing me to sell off my whole collection, with an exception with one tarantula, since I have spiderlings coming from loans I have made and the fact my adult female Heteroscodra maculata had escaped into the...
I wish I knew what to tell yah. I never seen this before. It looks like she is lacking some kind of nutrient possibly? You would definitely have to see if anyone has experianced this before. Hopefully she can live with the issue at hand, and possibly she may speed up her molt process to repair...
...because I found out that she had molted today and she clearly jumped a inch in size! She was just a little over 6 inches, now she's over 7 inches! I'm very excited. Currently she is the largest tarantula that I own at the moment, soon my female nhandu chromatus may be the top the competetor...
I've had this happen to me once. I paid $250 on here for a 7-8" female Theraphosa apophysis, but instead I received a 6.5-7" immature male Theraphosa blondi with a massive hirneia (cyst) on its abdomen. I'm unsure if it was an honest mistake or whether or not the individual attempted to take...
Definitely T.blondi. If you want a theraphosa, and one that gets large and actually is attractive to the eye then get an apophysis. I have owned T.apophysis before, they are so much more interesting.
An insecticide bomb will kill anything, even a human... it's toxic. I'll keep looking I'd rather find it and catch it because i liked that spider but my dog's life is much more valuable, plus my mother, grandmother and brother are allergic to insect/spider bites.
I was just going through all of my T's (feeding, watering etc.) and was checking up on my female H.maculata and realized it wasn't in its enclosure. I have no clue how she got out, but now my parents are pissed that an defensive/aggresive and potentially deadly tarantula is somewhere in my...
Just got this girl in today, and opened up the package to find a poorly packaged spider - but at this point it didn't matter to much to me - and the specimen has a large "cyst-like" growth of the sort on its abdomen. I am afraid to disturb her because I believe the she may attempt to kick...
I would've had a potential breeding pair if certain stupid mistakes weren't made on my behalf... but they are very cool t's, and are very aggressive feeders. She often mistakes my fingers for crickets but luckily so far i have not been tagged (my quick reflexes I suppose lol).
