    Scorpions adjusting venom *article*

Hey interesting, do you have any info you can link me re. that? Love my U. yaschenkoi, very rewarding species, as Aussies go. Haha yeah they are, I think only males? It's true of other monotremes. Ridiculous place this is. Nice first hand experience, still needs a half dozen repeats for...

Awesome red coloration on the setae, especially for an Aussie species. Did she moult recently or is that colouration pretty consistently present?

    "Clumsy" scorpion, sick?

Scorpion is dead. Still wish I knew the cause.

    "Clumsy" scorpion, sick?

Update. Now lying like this, legs moving slowly. Have seen this once before and it died shortly after. Any more thoughts?

    "Clumsy" scorpion, sick?

Update: can't get footage of the behaviour as it seems to have regained it's balance. Still very skittish with some questionable pedipalp movement when disturbed. But nothing very notable. So maybe a chemical problem with previous enclosure? Will keep everyone posted.

    "Clumsy" scorpion, sick?

Also, I meant "manicatus". My phone autocorrected to manicures. :shifty:

    "Clumsy" scorpion, sick?

It's not a communal enclosure. And it's already in a sort of "quarantine", a brand new enclosure with new substrate. I'll get a video of the behaviour later today, good thinking. CB I believe, the shop I normally go to only has CB. But I used to go to a different store before I learnt more...

    "Clumsy" scorpion, sick?

Hi all. I have a Urodacus manicures scorpion, but I've seen this once before in a U. elongatus. It stopped eating a few weeks ago, and I suspected a moult soon. Now it has gotten what I can only describe as clumsy. It holds it's tail up, falls over, scrapes around in the substrate but takes a...

Comment by 'AusBugKid' in media 'Atrax robustus "Sydney funnel web"'

The worlds deadliest I have heard. There is a very effective anti venom now yes, but only due to constant milking of funnel webs, the males of which produce more venom, but don't live as long. So a constant supply is needed from the public catching them safely and taking them to local...

    Atrax robustus "Sydney funnel web"

*Did not kill him* Found this guy dead outside my house. There was a discussion some months ago about how common funnel webs are in Australia, this is the 3rd I've come into contact with in about a month.

    Phlogius "pseudo-stents" sling

Don't know much about this "species", but it's a feisty little creature.

    Who molted today?

My Phlogius "pseudo-stents" moulted a couple of days ago, having only just moulted just over a week prior. Only about a 1" sling, but I was still surprised.

Any species of inverts you despise

Ticks. Specifically Ixodes holocyclus. I find them interesting enough, in an invertebrate way, but not enough to see past the paralysis thing. Their danger to humans is minimal, but can be lethal to dogs. 'Straya

Yeah that's a shame. Still, nice to know you didn't do anything wrong. As I said though, fingers crossed

    Gothmog is dying...

Oh no dude, sorry to hear. Until you said mycosis I was definitely thinking fungal infection. My only other thought, as much as I don't want to think it's the case, is possible contamination from your head rub technique? I wonder if maybe you could have had a pesticide residue on a fingertip...

Where can I buy a Brazilian black Sling

Oh trust me, people still tell us not to start with OWs. Yes it is a shame about The Goddess, PBUH. While our T's are interesting, they are all rather... Brown.

Where can I buy a Brazilian black Sling

Also, yeah there are legal ways around it regarding laboratory or justifiable use, but unlike keeping a tiger or komodo dragon in a zoo, it is harder to justify keeping a "big gross bug" to the relevant people, let alone a private collector trying to get permission to do so.

Where can I buy a Brazilian black Sling

Ayoooooo! I was summoned. Yeah nah mate super illegal. The penalties range from hefty fines (thousands) up to straight up prison time. Not sure how often that happens though. Knowingly importing anything restricted is taken pretty seriously, basically the legalities are similar to trying to...
