    American Carrion Beetle as feeders?

Because our government is lazy and doesnt want to review species by species. Instead they are content to ban all mantids, millipedes, roaches, scarabs/beetles... But potentially fatal scorpians and centipedes are no problem *smh*

    American Carrion Beetle as feeders?

I was curious if anyone has tried raising or even just feeding the odd American Carrion Beetle (Necrophila Americana) to your Ts? I live in Canada where cockroaches are illegal to own and import, but while on a hike I saw a couple of these beetles and they seemed like a good size, etc. for a...

    What's a good first OW T?

My first OW was a Lampropelma Violaceopes and I wouldnt say it was much more of a learning curve than with my GBB. As long as your rehousing and maintenance techniques keep escape chances at an absolute minimum, you shouldnt have any issues. (I.e. use a hard cover with a hole smaller than your...

    Tapinauchenius sp Union Island

Same here considering I got it as a 1/4" freebie this past summer and its already about 2"! Craziness. I also dig how fuzzy they get and the fairly intricate web tubes. Very interesting little t.

    Tapinauchenius sp Union Island

Wow nice pic! What size was he when he matured, approx.? I still don't really know what to expect from mine size-wise. Its around 2" now but already looking super fuzzy like yours :)

    Brachypelma albiceps sling enclosure questions

⬆ agree. And just to prepare you, as slings these are among the slowest growing I've ever seen, so that enclosure will last quite a while :) Mine has gone from a 1/2" sling to 3/4" sling in 1 year, and I feed all my ts a multiple times per week.

Sling Enclosure Forsting Concerns... Any Tips for a Solution?

My dislike was for the way you interjected to simply write the species name without addressing the primary question. Had you instead written something along the lines of "Assuming this is B. hamorii, you should do x y z. Can you confirm the Latin name of the species?"... Then I wouldn't have...

Sling Enclosure Forsting Concerns... Any Tips for a Solution?

Unless OP purchased his T as B. Hamorii and specified it elsewhere, we shouldnt assume that's what it is based on the common name. Many of the red-kneed brachys have been labelled as Red Knee in the pet trade and unless the scientific name was specified upon purchase, it would be irresponsible...

Sling Enclosure Forsting Concerns... Any Tips for a Solution?

You should have more air holes anyways really. When you increase the temp, the condensation is going back into the air in the enclosure, raising the ambient humidity, which is really not needed or beneficial for your red knee. More ventilation will allow for more air exchange and reduce the...

Sling Enclosure Forsting Concerns... Any Tips for a Solution?

That will help as well. I often see a bit of condensation in the morning in the more damp enclosures, when the temp is a bit lower, and it typically goes away throughout the day.

Nervous about winter temps for my pinktoe

Not to sound judgy, but how can you tolerate such cold ambient temperatures yourselves?? Lol. I'm a hot blooded Canadian and even I get uncomfortable in room temps below 67 for extended periods (except at night while sleeping) Anyhoo, more power to you! Lower heating bills :) that said, I...

1cm Sling Housing Question (First Ever T!)

What's the species you're getting? This will influence your best option ;) I agree that the pill vial should work for just about anything at that size, but for speedy species with fast growth rates I find it nice to have some extra space to work around and let it run around if it freaks out...

    Showing signs of imminent death?

My GBB will sometimes just chill with his two front sets of legs curled in while sitting at his web tube entrance. Used to freak me out too, but it's been months, and all else is normal, so now I don't think anything of it. I've been told more than once that I lean on my elbows on my desk in a...

    Blocked spinnerets?

I recently bought a C. Marshalli sling, about 1/2-3/4" DLS. I heard these guys burrow and web quite a bit, however mine has done neither so far, and it's been 10 days. It tries webbing, but there seems to be a clump of sub stuck to its spinnerets so no silk actually comes out and it hasn't...
