Went to Repticon this weekend in Baltimore and came back with a new child. Lol (see attached)
Didn't think I would get another species for awhile since I'm still trying to get used to my AFS. Several vendors there had a few species....one guy had a B. Gigas...something really high in my list...
Nope they all came from the same breeder... I would have assumed they were housed together or were siblings or something. I guess not. Either way the other 2 (the "nice" 2) are much happier in their tank and are just fine.. even sleeping together under the same piece of bark at times.
And yes...
Well they're here.... 3 H. spinifers! I got them last week and have had some interesting turns already. One particular meanie started bullying on the other 2 so I had to separate them. Not sure if they were just establishing territory or what nut I didn't like the way it looked. I thought...
well this makes me feel better about it. You can see the humidity all on the glass in the substrate and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to make MORE. so thanks!
I actually thought about using aluminum foil but didn't think the heat from the heat emitter would go through it.
I just set up my enclosure for the new scorps I plan to buy but I can't seem to get the humidity past 80%. I have damn near soaked the substrate with water , and have about 75% of the lid covered with saran wrap. I don't want to buy anything until I can get the humidity up to where it needs to...
Hi all,
I just finished setting up my 20 gallon long tank for the new scorpions I plan on getting soon (either H. spinifer or C. gracilis). The substrate it about 4-5" deep (depending on where in the tank) which is a mix of coco fiber and spagnum moss and there are 3 hides in it (right now)...
I'm asking because I've seen some sites that have something like "3.5" to the base of the tail" and then I've seen " 4" total body length." So its a little confusing to me. And I know fish are usually measured to the middle, inner part of the tail instead of the whole length of the tail (which...
when you measure a scorpions, do you just measure the body (not including the tail) or do you include the tail also? I didn't realize how small some species were!
I'm still trying to figure out what species is best for my 20g long tank. I don't want them to be so small where it would be hard...
I probably will end up getting a couple of Asian Forests. That shiny black really sticks out for me. But I also really love the B. Jacksoni even though most places say they aren't for beginners...
I will probably make my decision next week. I will be creating the tank this weekend.
lol.... Something tells me I'll eventually be getting more than one species. Stugus, I looked up the Grosphus scorpions and they are BEAUTIFUL as you stated. It led me to the Babycurus jacksonii species which is probably my favorite looking species so far... the coloration is amazing. What is...
This is all great info! Thanks! I was also interested in the desert species as well but according to some sites I read, none of them were recommended for beginners due to their aggressive nature and "potentially lethal" venom (particularly this site...
Hello, I'm working on gettinng my first scorpions and I'm having a hard time picking between an Asian Forest and a Florida Bark. Both are BEAUTIFUL from the pics I've seen but I can't decide which sp. I want.
As a beginner I've read everywhere that Emperors are best bust I don't think I want...
Hello everyone! JD here...36YO.... I found this forum a couple days ago when I was doing research on keeping pet scorpions. I have wanted one (or a couple) for years and I'm finally buckling down and joining the fray. I've always loved keeping reptiles, insects , etc. I grew up keeping...
