urodacus planimanus juvenile
not pictured: me behind the camera repeatedly remarking "oh no" and laughing at the sheer placidity of this lil thing
note: i'm aware it's a small container, it's temp housing for a few days while i get a big one
that's queensland law yeah? not automatically applicable to western australia (you're lucky though, that's pretty relaxed). i know that you need a permit to collect for scientific purposes here, but i can't find anything on govt websites specifically about collecting for personal reasons outside...
it's happened. rainbow stag beetles have re-appeared on upcoming stock lists. i'm ready.
kind-of. i have no experience keeping beetles in all honesty and would be keen to hear other peoples' experiences with keeping Phalacrognathus muelleri. or even just people's top tips for keeping tropical...
on a slightly more serious note, i'm not sure which would be the most popular exhibit. people tend to oggle the deadliest thing they can find, but they are also drawn to exhibits they can directly interact with. it might be a case of people going to see some real brutal species and winding up...
not sure what being italian has to do with it?
regardless, probably don't encourage a 16-year old to break the law. especially when we have a number of sellers here ripe 'n' ready to sell captive-bred t's which aren't from decimated wild populations :shame:
okay, so did a lot more digging around. if you get the right export permits, you can export aus species. steve nunn exported a number of breeding pairs of aus tarantulas back in the day, and that's likely how taipans and monitors are in the u.s (why anyone would want a fierce snake is beyond me...
zosis geniculatus looks to be the ideal feeder species for fringed jumpers according to this supplier here in aus so i'd say you're set. i can see whip spiders maybe going for them, though they might be a bit small for larger huntsman? might take some experimentation, honestly.
oh boy, getting inverts in aus. fun times ahead, my friend.
the main deal with t's in western australia (seeing as you're in margs) is this: there are few here, and they're all in perth stores from what i can tell. perhaps call the cannington pet magic store and ask who their breeders and...
Years Of Experience: 1-2 months?
Ts In Collection: 2
Escapes: 0
Times Bitten: 0
% Of OWs Vs. NW Ts: 100% OW
Extra Info: i waited until i moved out of home to get t's, thinking mum would never let it happen. told her about them once i got my first, her response was that it was "sick as" and...
oh you're totally right, as an australian who has had to deal with moving animals around the country, i have absolutely no idea how difficult it must be. you've opened up my eyes to my ignorance, praise be.
enclosure for young mature female Selenotypus sp. Platinum.
mostly, it's just a 3litre container from bunnings filled 2/3 of the way with coco-peat and some sphagnum moss. i love the little bridge i got for her hide though, it's a $9 aquarium decoration from city farmers.
hi! my name is ridley. i've haunted this forum for a month or two and finally decided to join since getting my p. rubiseta juvenile a week ago. i have a lot of appreciation for small creatures, being one myself (4'10"). i also love and take care of phasmids and mantids and want to expand my...
