    Times Have Changed

There seems to be a very strict adhesion on this forum to certain "rules" like enclosure size, handling, overall height of enclosures, never feed wild caught prey. I am not suggesting that these things are not with out risk. They are all good ideas. But, I kinda tend to look at them as...

    Times Have Changed

I am not suggesting that it was an optimal set up. But, I do have to say that I think some of the risks are a bit over blown. They do exist and are best kept to a minimum

    Times Have Changed

I had the same set up back in the 80's for a B. hamorii except I used a few inches of peat moss as substrate and sometimes fed live mice. I kept it for 15 years climbing in the screen lid and all.

Large mantids are really fun to watch and can be quite aggressive feeders.

12x12 enclosure big enough for any frog species?

Bumble bee toads do not require much room. A tank that size could house one or two.

12x12 enclosure big enough for any frog species?

Maybe some species of reed frog. That is if the exo is a 12x12x18 or larger.

Currently in level 4 lockdown due to covid-19 and all my crickets are 'contaminated'.

I wouldn't think twice about feeding those crickets to my spiders. They are fine.

    Ideas for vivarium plants?

Viper69, I have kept dartfrogs on and off since the 90's. I never really had a collection. Usually one 1 or 2 species at a time. Right now I have D. leucomelas and R. imitators Varadero. I have to say I love leucomelas. They are always out and active, do well in groups if they are not...

    Ideas for vivarium plants?

I have had really good luck with these cheap lights from amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S2LT8BD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I just super glued 4 aluminum bushings to the glass of the light to act as spacers to keep the light off the top of the tank. I see...

Is this product safe for tarantula cages?

With out knowing what it was dipped in there is no telling. But, I would bet it would be fine for a dry environment. If you order on and open the package and it really smells it's still off gassing and not safe. Probably ok but who knows.

    Terrestrial to Arboreal

Sounds like a fine idea to me. My versicolors are calm and gentle. Not that it has anything to do with it but, they are also just so damn pretty.

    Save the Bees

I am only about a year into it. I have 2 hives and so far it has not been difficult at all. I do have a friend that I can call who is more experienced in bee keeping if I have any questions. But, for the most part I have found it pretty intuitive if you have a good understanding of insects...

It's odd. There seems to be little cross over between the invert keepers and bee keepers. I keep both. anyone else?

What level of experience is required to keep OW’s?

Its really not that big of a deal. If you want a P. metallica and think you can deal with transfers and all that get one. Tarantulas are really not that hard to work with for the most part. I got a P' regalis as one of my first tarantulas. Fast and a little intimidating to work with at...

Administering Oral Medications to Feisty Lizards

I assume that it worked. I was administering Baytril to a veiled chameleon with a respiratory infection and the lizard got better.I just made sure that the medicated crickets were the lizard's only meals so he stayed kinda hungry and took the medicated crickets.
