Hitch-Hiking Millipede Found in a Box!

You know, I'm quite convinced they could be escapees OR mail hitchhikers now! BTW, they seem to have recovered fully after being put into the viv!

Hitch-Hiking Millipede Found in a Box!

A great idea...if I knew my original starting number. Hm. I suppose I'll never know at this point!

Hitch-Hiking Millipede Found in a Box!

Ah, yes, it does. However, it also has a tight-fitting glass lid on it, which is quite heavy (to a millipede anyways). I used to keep snails in it, and they never managed to escape (and they can stick to glass!). It does make me wonder...

Hitch-Hiking Millipede Found in a Box!

I honestly have no idea, as the postal service can be funny sometimes. There were two smaller items (in their own individual boxes) inside the larger box, and I have no idea where those may have been originally stored. Oh, as an update, those two millis are no longer wandering around in...

Hitch-Hiking Millipede Found in a Box!

Hey, I recently got a package from Amazon, as I love online shopping. I recieved it yesterday, removed the contents, and left the empty box on my bedroom floor overnight. This morning, much to my surprise, there was a millipede in the box! I took a look at it, and it's obviously an adult...

    My Floridabolus floydii

Hey everyone, i realize this thread is old, but i thought you all would like an update. My two Floridobolus millis have died. They lived about a year, I guess. No babies, but im not sure i had a male/female pair anyways. I did find some babies recently, but they were definitely Florida...

    Desert Beetle/Death Feigning Beetle Diet/Moisture

How'd you get them to eat that stuff? Or did they just eat it when you put it in? Mine are being incredibly stubborn...

    Desert Beetle/Death Feigning Beetle Diet/Moisture

I have a desert beetle setup (had for about 3 months now). It contains 4 Blue Death Feigning Beetles, 3 Black Death Feigning Beetles, 2 Wooly Beetles, 1 Smooth Death Feigning Beetle, and a small fuzzy round one (Edrotes ventricosus). They are doing great (seem to be) and are active, even...

My New Desert Death Feigning Beetles Not Doing Well?

Hmm...that's interesting. Now that the tank is warm, I'm seeing my woolies and black death feigning beetles out a lot, but I haven't seen my Blue Death Feigning Beetles at all yet. Oh, I'm just wondering...if they can eat sunflower seeds, can they also eat other nuts? I don't have any...

My New Desert Death Feigning Beetles Not Doing Well?

Well, I hope he's secretly ok. I should probably stop poking him and just leave him alone and see if he "recovers" later...

My New Desert Death Feigning Beetles Not Doing Well?

Well, I just hiked out in the freezing cold to the nearby grocery store and purchased a 60 watt incandescent bulb (soft white color; not the bright daylight spectrum CFL I was using before). I installed it in the lamp, and about 10 minutes later, a Wooly Beetle came out to wander around. I...

My New Desert Death Feigning Beetles Not Doing Well?

I did give them a dessicated bug (from a bag of food intended for bearded lizards) - they seem to have nibbled on it some.

My New Desert Death Feigning Beetles Not Doing Well?

I noticed that some of them came out last night, but as soon as they noticed me watching, they stopped moving. *They know I'm watching!* The light I'm using is a 60 watt equiv. CFL, so it doesn't put off much warmth. I'm thinking of switching to an incandescent to help raise the temperature...

My New Desert Death Feigning Beetles Not Doing Well?

I did a lot of research on the care and setup of desert beetles, and I bought some from Bugs in Cyberspace. I ended up with 4 Blue Death Feigning Beetles, 3 Black Death Feigning Beetles, 2 Wooly Beetles, 1 Smooth Death Feigning Beetle, and a small fuzzy round one (Edrotes ventricosus) that he...

    My Glossy Black Pinklegs

I keep my fermenting sawdust in tubs on top of the dryer...I think the heat may help. Really, though, I just keep it there because it's a convenient empty space - if the warmth helps, then that's a happy accident.

    Millipede and Repashy veggie burger

I sometimes feed my millis a bit of R-Zilla Reptile Munchies (which is basically just freeze dried bugs and veggies)...not sure how similar that is, though.
