Since I see the subject of tarantula hawks come every so often I thought I'd post this video of someone with more balls then me taking a sting from one.
I know this isn't directly related to the ownership of Ts but it seems it always goes along the lines of "I/someone stopped a hawk from...
So instead of doing a bunch of threads I waited until I could post something of substance. I think I'll post my updates to this thread from now on. Hope you enjoy what I have been as much as I, someone only a couple months into their journey with these amazing creatures.
Firstly I had two...
Been quiet for a bit, but I consider that a good thing. No problems. Successful molts. Avoiding buying more then what have, I always window shop after being on these boards...
I recorded a recent feeding and someone liked it enough to sub my YouTube that I use for odd ball stuff. So I thought...
So it molted. I don't know when though, which is concerning for me as I threw food in yesterday and it took it, not sure if it ate, but it took it. I seen this earlier.
It looks fresh to me. It has a new feature I didn't notice yesterday, or at all before to be honest. Green on it's toes. The...
Okay, I'll start keeping the sub a little more moist then I have. Didn't want to over saturate it, it does tend to dry up a little quicker as of late. The misting I know is worthless for humidity. I just offer as a secondary water source. I usually see the others drink at the droplets.
Thank you :)
Tonight was feeding night for the crew. All slings. Both GBBs made a show of it as usual. One not even waiting for the food to drop off the tongs.
The one that perplexed me was the P. fasciata. I rarely see anything but a hole with legs. It's turned down the past few meals. Okay, premolt I...
Thank you :) He/she put on some good size, seemingly more then with the last molt. I also dont remeber the measurment i last took... never recorded it. Hasn't been in a position I could use a tape measure with though. Wishing your Versi a successful molt :)
Mine usually eats every three days...
Ori was looking a little fat as of Monday, "Ori," I said, "you need to diet. The summer isn't over yet!"
The next day when I looked at Ori's enclosure I could tell Ori was plotting. The chelicerae just gave it away. Benefit of the doubt reigned supreme though. I thought nah and stated aloud...
I believe it was on Wildboyz, that "nature" show with Chris Pontious and Steveo from Jackass, put on a glove filled with bullet ants.
I won't post the clip and it's been awhile since I've watched the DVD, but they didn't react to well... it was a coming of age thing a tribe does.
The turkey pokers can do same thing if you get them too hot. You don't want them going red. You can do about 5 holes before it cools down too much. I'd also suggest doing it outside if you can or using a fan and opening a window. It does give off quite a bit of fumes.
Kind of. I usually just touch the opening of the web with a prekilled food item, a little smaller then it mouth to butt, and if that doesn't draw it out I'll leave it by the water. I've caught it by water enough that I think it's a good place to leave prekilled. If it's still there the next day...
Thank you for the positive feedback :)
I sat there for a good half hour staring at the container like how am I going to do this lol.
The white piece is a vile lid and the dish is a water bottle cap. The lid has a lip that hugs the cap and keeps it in place. When I change the water I can pluck...
So several weeks ago I ditched the AMAC containers I was using to keep a C. versicolor and P. fasciata in. Didn't like them for a few reasons. I moved them both into deli containers. The fasciata took to it's new and home the versi decided to web the lid to the container... I tried a couple...
There is an app on the Google play store called "tarantulas". It has a database of the names. The rest you fill out; Temps, humidity, feedings (days since last with a reminder function and what you've fed it), molt (days since last), t type (aboreal, terrestrial, fossosrial), life stages and...
