i keep mine a bit more moist than my other substrates, have a few anchor points. one of mine webs like crazy and the other hasnt done any. feed every 3-4 days. you can keep pre killed on day of arrival but after that once they settle in they happily take live
its fallen a few times whilst trying to climb and obviously failed. theres plenty of substrate and the T just gets right back up and walks off. i think it is approaching a molt as its gone off food now
so i have a e.Parvulus sling and its just sitting at the top of the cotton bud i put in there for it to use as anchoring (waste of time as its laid 0 visible webbing). it eats fine but sometimes struggles to climb up the sides of the container its in. i put a few drops of water in a corner maybe...
baby centipedes just look like small versions of the adults (they also look like uncoloured jelly beans lol). the "legs" on that larvae are actually hairs they use to detect movement both for safety and for hunting, mosquito larvae eat small insects.
not to mention how even mild effects such as spasms can last for days or weeks. who wants to see their child suffer from spasms and chest pains for days or weeks when you could of avoided it by simply not handling them?
i never said kill. necrosis and nerve damage are real threats from venomous animals. theres a giant difference between killing and damaging. also, the kid could easily be allergic and allergies have more dramatic effects the younger the person is.
i wouldnt recommend a venomous animal to be around a child, especially not a 4 year old. keep it locked in a container and the kid can look at it and watch it hunt and web. the venom is extrememly dangerous to small children and all it takes is that 1 in 50,000 times you hold the tarantula for...
inverts and verts have both the same basic muscle structures both thin and thick. the thin muscles are very similar but the thick ones are quite a lot different. they seem to have greater control/strength/range over catch than stretch (grab over release). we dont even understand how the stretch...
if they were parasitic mites they'd be gathering in the joints of the exoskeleton were they can suck blood, not on the fangs (thickest part of exoskelton). they just want a meal
why are people freaking out over phoretic mites? they just hitch a ride then jump off. mites are clean up crew just like spring tails or woodlice. people go crazy over mites for no reason.
the "happy dance" is just the T laying down new webbing destroyed by jumping on and tackling the prey. they wont do this with the super worms because you crush the heads and they dont move so why waste energy pouncing on something that moves slowly
if you keep the crickets on a mesh bottom then their poo will fall through and is easy to remove. i saw a setup before where the poo fell into water which masked the smell. i used to breed rats by the hundred every week and crickets are nothing compared to that smell.
