Euathlus sp. Red
Acanthoscurria geniculata
Brachypelma vagans
Psalmopoeus cambridgei
Caribena versicolor
Most of these were freebies that ended up being favorites. They are all stunning and have interesting behaviors that live up to their reputations. My favorite might actually be the B...
Eh, I realize my post was dumb. Haha There really is no possibility that it isn't another brachypelma species or a hybrid. I had barely done the research on baumgarteni and was irritated that he was charged so much. I love the sling anyway and I'm sure it will be beautiful.
Thank you for answering my question. :) I figured it would be too early to tell. I mostly wanted to know because I think my boyfriend was overcharged for it. I vaguely remember seeing an $80 price tag on it when we went to the shop. It's most likely a boehmei hybrid and I'm okay with that...
This sling was sold as B. baumgarteni, but it seems like that species is incredibly rare and it's most likely a boehmei or a hybrid. I thought it was a B. klassi when I first saw it. Is it still too small to identify?
I love the use of black silicone. I'll have to come back to this thread for inspiration if any of my arboreal Ts end up being female. Thanks for sharing!
I keep my C. versicolor in a much larger enclosure than most of my other slings. I release crickets on the cork bark slab and they tend to wander around until they deliver themselves right to the versi. I drop prekilled waxworm/meal worms directly onto webbing when it's closer to molting. If you...
I was actually looking for a second species of mantis since work keeps me insanely busy and I wanted another low-maintenance critter. I ended up getting a C. versicolor. I think nearly all tarantulas are gorgeous now and will be ordering Euathlus sp. (red), B. vagans and P. cambridgei slings...
I have a bit of experience in animal rescue, so I can understand some of the blunt responses from the experienced members of the forum. It's hard to bite your tongue when someone takes on the responsibility of an animal without doing enough research and/or blatantly ignores the advice of an...
I'm new to the hobby and find these boards invaluable. Some of the most experienced keepers here don't mince their words, but I wouldn't take it personally. We are pretty lucky to have a community like this. :) Good luck with your girl.
I was more thinking it would be less disruptive to drop something from the top than to lift the enclosure from the base every time I feed the sling. It only took a few minutes to add. :)
I'm an excited newbie trying to err on the side of caution. I appreciate your advice.
I haven't had any trouble feeding, but I wanted the option of dropping food in from the top. I am going to wait to move the versicolor until it is larger now. I enjoy crafting projects and might have gotten a little too excited about this new hobby... haha
I wanted to reduce the height of the...
