You are the last person who should care for this awesome specie of tarantula. Your husbandry is garbage to boot. You are seriously a train wreck. There care is no different than the H.mac. you have been on here for a decade if not longer and you don't know this already.
I started with a P.met, always liked the blue coloration. To be honest far over rated out of the pokies. Then I got 2 P.ornatas and my life changed. Blew the Metallica out of the water. Better coloration in my opinion and much bigger/legging.
I literally could give a crap less about venom...
I keep all my Cyriopagopus tarantulas in large kritter keepers filled almost to the brim with moist dirt. I provide a cork bark flat and start a burrow for them. They take to that starter burrow like flies on crap and start digging to the bottom. A very easy tarantula to care for as is rest of...
You do not have to find something else to house your tarantula. Your setup is just fine. The C.Darlingi is an obligated borrower. My favorite type of tarantula to keep by far. I prefer deeper taller enclosures for my obligated borrowers. Nice part about your setup is once your tarantula...
It looks like you are using a tall exo terra glass enclosure with 2 front opening doors correct? If so you should replace the enclosure either to a sterilite container or a 5 -10gallon glass terrarium filled with moist substrate to the point where your T.stirmi cannot fall. Your current...
He does not know basic knowledge!! He has been on here for a flipping decade if not longer and dosent know crap about keeping tarantulas at all!!!! One of the worst keepers on the boards too.
I would start looking into other NW tarantulas you would be also be interested in keeping as that little guy will bore you to death in the upcoming days/years. No offense to you but not a good choice as a first tarantula a 1/2" G.rosea sling, its just likely going to piss you off by not eating...
Lol, you don't have to be an expert to keep old world tarantulas. Most of them are way overhyped to be honest. Most of my collection is old world and I started old world. Housed correctly I find them to all burst to hides or burrows at the slightest disturbance and I mean the slightest...
I have never nor would I ever rehouse a tarantula on a table. Yeah they don't always do what you want them to do when rehousing and will do a 180 on you. Best bet is to do future rehouses in a room with minimal clutter on the floor or the bathtub. I do mine outside in the summer months on the...
I haven't found them to be difficult to tell apart, the minax is jet black and in the first 4 pictures I have included. The vonwirthi is the next 5 pictures. I have 1 minax and 2 vinwirthi's in my t room right now.
I mean i am keeping a terrarium filled almost to the brim with moist substrate that contains a tarantula somewhere inside that terrarium that I rarely see. What do you want to know? Couple sample pictures included
Cyriopagopus for sure as i own most of the genus. However I don't own or have ever kept a Chilobrachy. To be honest I don't think you can go wrong with either as all the pictures I have seen they all look pretty bad ass.
I haven't had any troublesome tarantulas. I can do maintenance in all of my enclosures with out worry as all mine bolt to hides or burrows, even both my P.ornatas will bolt to behind cork bark and stay put. H.mac run a few laps before settling in behind cork bark same with S.cal runs a few laps...
Hahahaha for Pete's sake why do people think these are bad/evil tarantulas? Housed correctly they are orange teddy bears in my experience, never got a threat posture from any of mine would rather flee to hide than try and fight. Wish more people could realize this and not think they are such...
Keep it. They are over hyped as far as defensive goes. Mostly by people keeping them in an improper enclosure. If you provide deep substrate and a hide most likely won't ever be a problem. I have raised 3 since started keeping and my first tarantula in 2007 was an obt that I kept with zero...
If I was you I would replace that real wood half log hide for a piece of cork bark. That real wood will mold so fast on you and just be a hassle with mold and fungus growth. I also used the same half log as you in my early days of keeping theraphosas and it just grew mold, since I switched to...
